#42The value is in making money. You won't be able to make money with legal/regulated books. It's mind blowing people actually think this is going to kill offshore. Those that are betting REAL money and not just firing $2-$25 on games will stay offshore.Comment -

#43Books like Heritage, 5 Dimes and Bookmaker aren't going anywhere, the first two because of reduced juice, which is the primary reason they get most of my action despite my ability to bet legally in PA, and Bookmaker because of huge limits.
With that said, I have actually made some bets at Sugar House because that have occasionally had better lines on my plays, especially for MLB Totals. Still, I disagree with the reliable offshores going away in my lifetime.Comment -

#49You might want to think that offshore will be going away any time soon but in reality it would take years before they take a major hit.
and even then those offshore books will come up with ways to keep most players.
be it more books offering reduced juice, more wager types, more props and better bonuses with maybe no or less rollovers
you also might want to hang onto those offshore books for better lines
what about the big players ? or those 8-10 team parlays. Do you really want to share some of that money to "uncle sam" ?Comment -

#50The U.S is not the entire market for most of these offshore books. Just look at all the books that have left the U.S market and are doing just fine. I can get paid within a half hour playing offshore so faster payouts are not an issue either. And not many people want to drive hours away to place a bet when you can bet at home. Offshore is going nowhere.Comment -

#58For someone that's had $20k on Sportsbook, $10k on MyBookie and $8k on Betagame. All which are low rated books or not rated by SBR and I've been paid every cent every time. MyBookie was the only one who needed time to "review" for 24 hours and it's been problem free since.
I get paid faster offshore than I do from the NJ sites in most cases too.
Literally 5 minutes via ACH & PP and 15 mins from the time across the bridge to the cage at Resorts / Trop / OceanComment -

#64Not even close, it sounds, and Cali would be the largest sports betting market in the country.
The Cali constitution added a ballot in 2000 that gives jurisdiction over all gambling to Native American Tribes, it's considered de jure and their fundamental right.
Racetracks and card rooms are the other gambling entities but they are essentially frozen because the Tribes rule.
Every bill or mention of legalized sportsbetting in Cali gets squashed by the Tribes.
Citizens are trying though, they just can't get anything going over the last few years.Comment -

#66Make no mistake, we're getting down out here, but man it's crazy how the legislature allows one group so much power over gambling, enough to sway votes and kill bills.
The Tribes never were dialed into the Vegas lines, they weren't their lines to sell, but now they could get a chance.
I think there is a fear that a fantasy site or even Will Hill will take over, the Tribes continue to protect their interest.Comment -

#69Cali would be the biggest sport betting market in the country.
Not sure anyone is close.
But hey, the estimated $100 million in state revenue, which is nothing compared to the billions dollar budget, could go to pay for the bill making it's way through the state legislature that forces Cali to pay for the healthcare of illegal alien males 19-25 years old.
When it came time to add the figure for care for citizens over age 65, the lawmakers said there wasn't enough money for that, we can't afford that.
Unreal.Comment
