I think Danny Ainge is to smart of a GM to think that the Celtics can win with Irving as their best player. He's always hurt, going back to college, the first year Cleveland was in the finals, and last year. Irving is not a leader either, he schedule his nose surgery for game 7 against the Cavs last year so he didn't have to be on the bench when the team won or Lebron beat his team, Cleveland did nothing but fight before Lebron got there, and now at 26 he's saying he needs to set the tone for the younger guys. Boston can't trade for Davis unless they ship Irving out and New Orleans has to trade Davis this year if they want to have any leverage.
Davis already hired Lebron's agent and when New Orleans fails again to attract free agents in the offseason this year Davis will see he can't win in New Orleans and will leave anyways. Boston has far better assets than anyone else to trade for Davis, Lonzo Ball is shooting 41% from the foul line and everyone knows Ball wants to be in a big market anyways, Kuzma plays no defese. Boston could send Irving and Tatum and replace Tatum with a free agent in the big free agent class next year.
