#53You accomplish this by saving as much as you are allowed by law, then employer is required by law to contribute their amount.
That’s step 1.Comment -

#54Is there any type of mutual fund or return on your money... in which you could make monthly deposits.... and get a decent return on your money... have access to it by retirement age... but it's not linked to your employer? Do you guys get what I'm saying?Comment -

chico and I never agree on anything mainly because he is anti-american and desperately wants this country to become hispanic but thinks he is being sly about. So the fact we agree on this should be very telling especially compared to proven suckers like grease whose solution for debt problem is, and I quote; "hope"

Problem is there are sooo many regulations and laws. I believe I have funded every type of plan over the years. It’s more complicated than the tax laws.Comment -

#65Listen to me and listen closely. A Roth IRA. Put as much in as you are allowed each year. I recommend these low-commission index funds.....
ITA, invests in defense industry (If you don't see war coming, you're not paying attention) -- 40%
ROBO, invests in AI technology( Robots and AI are the technology of the future )-- 40%
IAU, invests in gold (just in case everything goes haywire) --20%
Good luck,

#67If you don't need the tax deduction, you'd better be putting it in a Roth something - 401k probaby your best bet. I've been putting in my Roth 401k since I was 21, tax free withdrawals are retirement. That's a lot of tax free interest.Comment -

With a Roth, you pay tax on the seed, with traditional pretax, you pay tax on the harvest.
Dollar for dollar, same given rate of return, there is a high likelihood that you will have far more in your pocket over the long term in Roth vs traditional pretax.
As far as a “good rate”, a Roth is a type of account. Think if it as a garage that shelters your investment vehicle from taxes. You can park just about any type of vehicle in that garage that you want. Any mutual fund, etf, stock, etc.Comment
