Miami International Airport has been shut down for days. You think they do that sh*t on a whim?

Glad you asked, I was just thinking of giving an update. Just really humid and droves of mosquitoes right now. My pool didn't even fill up with water, lame. Current assessment is that damage caused by looters tripled the damage caused by Irma and that number may grow. A handful of people died during Irma but it doesn't appear that any died because of Irma. Sun is out today, streets are dry, flowers are watered and life is good.

On a good note Tampa mayor said it was just a glancing blow. Some buddies back home said power is out but ill be heading back Tomm.
Gonna take the boat out see whats up
They don't do that because looting is actually GOOD for the economy... it's pathetic, but almost everyone ends up a winner except good samaritans.

We are, small town called Hunts Point. I was just fukking around, but we did own two properties just south of Clearwater (Gulfport) until a few months ago so we have many great friends in the Tampa/Clearwater area that we've been in touch with. Sounds like it was prettty scary storm. I've been harsh on the media but honestly, the peeps we've talked too say it was bad.

Jibbby - it is very bad. Thousands of homes damaged and/or flooded. A lot of missing people in the keys. Naples is a disaster area. It looks like a bomb fell on that city. Yes, it wasn't the zombie apocalypse but it will take many years for people to recover from this. Definitely not laughable. Many islands destroyed, Cuba ended up taking a huge hit and they are really struggling now. Millions of people will be without power for weeks, maybe months. Atlanta just had someone killed from a fallen tree. These are people's lives, families, friends. We try to make light of these situations but these are real people. It's just sad...

I fear they are going to find several dead people in the Keys that didn't evacuate. One guy that they interviewed last week that said he was staying is missing and his home is demolished. A couple that owned a restaurant is also missing and the family is desperate trying to find them.

Yep. Without it hitting Cuba it could have been worse. Still, people in the Keys, Naples area got fcked up. Jacksonville flooded. Miami got lucky it didn't turn North sooner, but still have plenty of damage. This wasn't some minor storm. It will go down in history. Storm surges still going to do damage.

That's great to hear Dane... That's the crazy thing about hurricanes. If you fared well that means someone else didn't. These storms only slow down at someone's expense.

Few houses down the road a pine tree fell straight through someone's house. Sucks

Hearing awful stories in Anguilla. British government hasn't even come to their aid even though it is a British territory. People have no food and water. A helicopter dropped off 2 pallets of plywood and that was the response thus far. The one hospital on the island is damaged but help is not on the way. Sad.

he's more spot on than that mac4lyfe guy. if you listen to him you'd be hiding under your bed every time a roll of thunder is heard. total fraud. he claims to have been in charge of hiring for fema during katrina, somehow was living in northridge ca when an earthquake struck, claims to know dozens of people that live on many caribbean islands and is in constant contact with them. yet he has 30k posts on a sports betting forum. like the song "he's where he should be all the time" whenever some mini disaster like this one approaches. always seems to be living at or near one of these every time one happens.

A huge British military presence is rushing to the aid of citizens stranded following the devastation of Hurricane Irma after the Government was slammed for an initially slow response.
RFA Mounts Bay has docked in Anguilla loaded with supplies for residents on the British Overseas Territory, many of whom are now homeless after the Caribbean island was battered by 175mph winds.

The Navy flagship HMS Ocean is on its way to the Caribbean with helicopters, Marines and engineers, but will take ten days to two weeks to reach the island as it has to travel from the Mediterranean, where it is undertaking NATO duties.
Meanwhile, troops back RAF Brize Norton, in Oxfordshire, have been pictured preparing to head out to join in the relief effort.

A helicopter with supplies takes off from RAF Mounts Bay providing relief to Anguilla following Hurricane Irma

RFA Mounts Bay (pictured) will be joined by HMS Ocean, but only after it makes the journey from the Mediterranean

Two military transport planes loaded with 'personnel, supplies and recovery equipment' set off for the Caribbean this morning - with one heading for the British Virgin Islands.
Meanwhile, the Dutch already have two Navy ships in St Martin delivering food and water to those affected by the storm.
Defense Secretary Michael Fallon has said that 'we are going to make sure the islands get the help they need' after the UK Government was slammed over its 'pathetic' response to the storm.

Prime Minister Theresa May upped Britain's Hurricane Irma aid package on Thursday to £32million.
Fallon said the UK will also be sending 'a task group of several hundred troops, marines, engineers and additional helicopters.'
Two Puma helicopters will fly to the worst-hit British territory, Anguilla, as soon as a functioning landing strip is found.
Irma has hit the British territories Anguilla, Montserrat, the British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos.
On the ground, governor Gus Jaspert said he had declared a state of emergency, indicating there had reports of both injuries and deaths during the storm.

The UK Government was slammed this week over its 'pathetic' response to Hurricane Irma in hitting its territories in the British Virgin Islands

Britain has already sent one ship, RFA Mount Bay, to Anguilla, and the HMS Ocean is on its way to the Caribbean with helicopters, Marines and engineers

HMS Ocean is leaving its NATO duties in the Mediterranean to head for the Caribbean, a journey that will take ten days to two weeks

A Royal Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft is loaded with supplies at Brize Norton in Oxfordshire in preparation for its flight to the Caribbean

'Apart from structural damage, there have sadly been reports of casualties and fatalities,' he said in a recorded message to residents.
The category five storm is continuing to tear a deadly trail through the Caribbean and has already left thousands homeless after destroying buildings and uprooting trees.

Prime Minister Theresa May upped Britain's Hurricane Irma aid package on Thursday to £32million

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said four people were confirmed dead and about 50 injured on the French side of St. Martin, an island split between Dutch and French control. The toll could rise because rescue teams had yet to get a complete look at the damage.
At least four people were killed in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and officials said they expected to find more bodies. Authorities described the damage as catastrophic and said crews were struggling to reopen roads and restore power.
Three more deaths were reported on the British island of Anguilla, independent Barbuda and the Dutch side of St. Martin.
French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said 100,000 food rations
French President Emmanuel Macron's office said he would go to the islands as soon as the weather permits it.
Saying he was 'grief-stricken,' Macron called for concerted efforts to tackle global warming to prevent similar natural disasters.
Two Dutch navy ships were in St. Martin with vital supplies. And two Dutch military aircraft were being sent the island of Curacao and on to St. Martin to deliver food and water intended to last the population of 40,000 five days.

The UK has already sent one ship, RFA Mount Bay, to Anguilla, which took the full force of the storm

The aircraft were carrying 100 extra troops to deliver aid, repair infrastructure and restore order.
The Foreign Office on Thursday insisted Britain was doing its 'utmost' to bring urgent assistance after the category five storm caused devastation in the Caribbean.
A meeting of the Government's emergency Cobra committee to coordinate the response was chaired on Thursday by Mr Fallon after Mrs May spoke about it with French President Emmanuel Macron.

I use to lose power every time somebody farted outside, or a fuk'n squirrel looking for a nut hit a transformer. Cable and internet went down around 2am Monday, no word on when service will resume. Ran into some Spectrum cable guys down the street, they have no idea. But can live without cable/internet, no power sucks ass. Hopefully not too long for those doing without.

Blazer's right, we (Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater/Sarasota, etc.) dodged a big ass bullet. Making landfall down south (sorry Marco Island/Naples) and staying over land took a lot of steam out of the storm. If it had stayed over water and chugged along the coast it would have fukked up the whole west coast of Florida. So yeah, I ain't complaining. Couple days un-boarding windows, cleaning up limbs and whatnot, I'm way better off than a lot of people. And Jibby, wtf. Maybe stick in the Trump threads and quit commenting on things you obviously don't have a clue. There's more to hurricanes that how fast the fuk'n winds blowing.

Glad to hear most came out relatively unscathed.

The cable company just now fixed their shit. I don't know how it happened, but in the entire subdivision I live in, our street ( about 200 so yards ) was the only one with power. Go figure ... but no bitching here. Minimal damage in my property. Had to work in the Florida heat to fix part of the back yard fence yesterday and thought I was gonna die. Some fascia and soffit here and there but no big deal. Wishing all my floridians a quick recovery and back to normal ASAP. You hate to see people in dire situation, losing everything, kids without a roof over their head and water up to their chests. Donate if you can. Anything helps. Heartbroken for the South/ Southwest. Stay strong, Florida STRONG !
