Posted by Josh Alper on September 9, 2016, 4:20 PM EDT
Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall became the latest NFL player to exercise his right to kneel during the playing of the national anthem before Thursday night’s game against the Panthers.
what a dumb ass. Here is a situation where keeping it real goes horribly wrong

#859That's their problem ... It's not about them, it's not about kapstick here either... It's the bigger picture. Again, it's about having respect for where you are from, and the people who we've lost on account of our freedom to even watch these ball games...Comment -

#860He made it clear it has nothing to do with any military personnel having fought for the country, rather the recent police actions thats been going on. People decided to lose his reasons in translation and project it back onto the "country" so they wouldnt have to look in the mirror. There is a reason vets were on his side because he spoke in favor of them.Comment -

#862Does that sound like a clear message " to sit where he will be all season " for the national anthem to promote black lives matter? ... Got to be the dumbest, man... and anyone who supports this kapstick move here, only outs themselves for the type of folk they really are... Sad

#863Might not have been the best platform, but I understand since the anthem represents America to many people. The thing is he explained why he was kneeling clear as day, he explained his love for all people who have fought for the country, he said why he was kneeling, so the same people who didnt care about the police killing innocent civilians before he kneeled are the same people who are going to ignore his real reasons and project it back onto him not having respect for the anthem or the flag.
This is a easy spotted agenda to rile up the people, and here you are adding to it by saying " good question " on why the anthem is even played at games...
But if someone is going to protest something ... Make sure it's a protest that adds up to what they are protesting. Disrespecting the anthem, America, the flag ...ain't the way to go.. It's like disrespecting kapsticks mom to protest life .... Don't make any sense, at all...Comment -

#864It's a subliminal disrespect to the country... I can see his old lady pumping this up.. The flag, America, the anthem, has nothing to do with some individual case of injustice... Why aren't we hearing about the hero cops EVERYDAY, he won't stand for them though!? ... What about the little girl that got shot in her house by a drive by shooting, what about that injustice for her family? ...and another 1,000 cases like it, why don't we hear people protesting for folks in Chicago ... D. Wades cousin ... I hear nothing...

#865You have to look at it from another's perspective, it'd be impossible to see if one doesnt. He's not the first person to not stand for the anthem, other athletes have done it. Again, he has veterans support, ask yourself why that is if he was disrespecting what you say he is then they wouldnt be supporting him. Why all they getting, get an understanding. You know this Freezer. Had he only kneeled during the anthem and never gave an explanation then perhaps that would be one thing, even with that he has a freedom of speech we're told. But he did indeed give a precise explanation of his actions. Kneeling isnt even the issue, its just a projection technique to ignore the obvious. Forget he kneeled, unarmed civilians being killed by the police was being ignored, is that not a problem? Justice wasnt being served, cops kill unarmed citizens and walk free, is that not a problem?
But the military is not standing behind kapstick.. Maybe a few " black lives matter " folks are...but the military as a whole is not behind him.. So that's a twisted statement ..and again, his kneeling for the anthem move is a subliminal disrespect to our people as a whole..and that's ALL it is..
but is kapstick going to do something special in Chicago for the people who are getting lead showers?... Nay, didn't think so..Comment -

#866There's two sides to every coin...and there's no telling what YOU would have done in any given situation where you feel your life is at risk..(hence michael brown) You act as if everyone all the time is supposed to get it perfect...just not possible, there are crooked cops, there are corrupt people ... And kangaroo courts.. But the majority is not that way... Cops are worth protesting until it's raining and your old lady gets a flat tire on the interstate when one saves the day or in a wreck and calls for medics to save her life...

#867Its about justice Freezer, yes there are good cops, bad cops, and crooked cops. Its about what happens after those incidents. Nothing happens to the cops, if justice was served then you wouldnt have all of this. In the supposed tazer and murder incident in South Carolina the cops was arrested and there were no protests. When blacks kill blacks they are arrested and sent away. The people protesting are only seeking justice thats it, thats all. Arrest and imprison the cops who do wrong whether they be black, white, or any nationality.
Justice is meant to be blind... But i just want to know why you would make that statement... " good question " ..why would you want our anthem out of anything more or less sports...?Comment -

of leaves. Cops are shooting to kill under the assumption of a weapon (rustle of leaves), compared to actually seeing
the weapon (animal). As a hunter, we are taught to know what's beyond the target. Humans or houses could be
beyond the target. Cops are unloading their clips with no regard what's beyond the target. Maybe they need to go to
hunter courses.Comment -

#869I never said I wanted it out of sporting events, I only said good question as to say Ive never heard the reason why or if there is a specific reason. They may play it at every pro sporting event I dont know, personally it'd probably seem more significant, cherished, and symbolic if it were played at not every single event, but rather more meaningful games, I dont know havent really gave it much thought. If its all then thats 162 baseball games times what 32 teams divided by 2. 16 NFL games times 32 divided by 2, 82 basketball games times 32 divided by 2. But I know Ive been places where it's played in venues and sometimes people dont stand until maybe they see others start to stand and seems they dont want to feel out of the loop so to speak. I have nothing against the anthem, but if somebody has a pertinent reason for not respecting it that I could understand where theyre coming from then I couldnt do anything but respect it and their freedom of speech. If its a person of color stating the viewpoints about their people still being slaves when the anthem was written, werent allowed to fight for the country, and upset at how things are today then thats them. Maybe there needs to be a new anthem. Havent been to a pro game in a while, much rather watch on tv with instant replay and easy betting, but Im pretty sure I stood all the times Ive been.Last edited by jtoler; 09-12-16, 09:14 PM.Comment -

#875Freezer, it appears that you are confused about what Kap is protesting.
Do you think its a good idea to be arguing about this when you are clearly misunderstanding the whole point?
Vets do support Kap & thats not twisted or misconstrued.
Its a fact.
And it is an important fact as well. Vets understand that they fought for Kap's right to do what he's doing. It appears that this ideal was lost on people like you.Comment
