see that ain't right trip, if trump brings companies back, it will help with jobs, growth, and economy ..will let fed raise interest instead of " going into unchartered territory " as they're doing now, because more QE's with keeping the interest at zero, and letting everyone run all over us is going to kill the body... We need to stop the bleeding, and we need better deals... I think trump is who he say he is, he can fight for better deals once understanding what has been in line in the past and what we have now, middling out what works and what doesn't ...but we are going to bleed on for sure with hillary... She's knows nothing about the economy, or money (she's bought)...she's not some savy business mind, nay, she has a degree in political science ...and has been eating off of us and bold face corruption..

Trump's not likely to do much about the Fed because 1) he doesn't seem to have a grasp of the harm it's doing, and 2) letting that bubble burst, even in a somewhat controlled manner, will cause a economic downturn that the uninformed masses will blame on the current politicians instead of the previous ones who allowed the bubble to be blown out of proportion.
I think Trump believes he is who he says he is; the problem is there doesn't seem to be much evidence to support that he's right.
Clinton has probably forgotten more about how the country works than Trump knows. That doesn't mean she has any ideas or inclination to do it right, or that she's any smarter, just that she's been involved in it for far longer and deeper than Trump has.Comment -

#5358That sounds good in a vacuum, but it's more complicated than "bring companies back and everything's better". There's actually quite a bit of data with which to make semi-accurate guesses for these things, at least regarding tax revenues...and the evidence shows Trump's plan burying us in more debt.

#5359I agree with a lot of this... I just want an outsider, obviously what she or obama knows doesn't help... We need someone real, with courage and wit to get something done, you would have to go over why you feel trumps plan would bury us in more debt? How much worse could he do ..triple it ? because the obama, hillary deal surely isn't working tripper... but yea, I don't think bringing companies back will be a quick fix but it will be a antibiotic, along with better foreign trade deals, taxing them more, letting up on taxing the people, these are all helpful things that will stop the inflammation ...and once shown to be working the fed can increase rates slowly, hillarys plan is a literally for " dreamers " this crap ain't workin trip..
Trumps tax plan cuts too much tax revenue without cutting spending...the amount he does it by leaves a revenue gap that's too hard to even optimistically gloss over, and deficits tend to be bigger than forecast, not smaller. Sure, hillary won't be any better, but again they're not the only two choicesComment -

#5360Heh, we agree that hillary won't fix it, that an outsider is needed with the courage and wit to get something done. There's one on the ticket as it turns out (Johnson), and he's got experience doing it to boot. Let me ask ya: if he was the Republican nominee, would you vote for him?

#5361Anybody who wants to end the fed ... sounds alright, but turning us into the red light district Amsterdam ...I don't like, there's a few other things I don't agree with, but I could compromise for the big things, which I doubt he would, sounds good on paper..but ya know

Johnson follows Ayn Rand religiously seems like a drastic overstatement; the only thing he's ever said about her is what you see partially quoted in the link you gave. The full quote: "I think I view the system the same way that Ayn Rand views the system - that it really oppresses those that create, if you will, and tries to take away from those that produce and give to the non-producers." from
http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/g/gary_johnson.html Doesn't sound like a very disagreeable statement there does it?
No candidate's perfect, but a guy who's got experience doing exactly what he says and achieving it more often than not is definitely preferable to a guy with no political experience, no practical ideas (and not many mathematically possible ones either) and who can't even stack up favorably against the OTHER least liked candidate in recent history. Support Johnson and he'll make as much progress as can be made on the fiscal issues, and give you the freedom to work towards whatever you see as moral progress; support Trump and you'll get the same corruption as Clinton, only with more incompetenceComment -

The fact is that no one person is going to fix a system that is fundamentally flawed. Change comes from the people & this is going to be a long slow painful process. Which we may not have time for as nature or our own stupidity may destroy us all before its even possible.Comment -

#5371Right....except that most of the time when I point out Trumps inadequacies, it's while saying Clinton is terrible. Johnson takes equally from both of them in most polls, or close enough that it doesn't matter. #5373Shrug, prostitution is a victimless crime...making it illegal doesn't stop the demand, it just makes sure the operations are shadier and worse on the people providing the services and wastes money enforcing it, same as the war on drugs.

#5374^^^Economies always cycle.. Ups and downs.. Nothing stays great forever or bad forever... Real Estate and Stock cycles up and down as well.. Happens usually every 10 to 15 years on average..
Neither Trump or Hillary can stop it.. So all you economic experts posting take that in...History will repeat itself again like it always does.
The only advice I can offer up is - If you own stocks right now this is the time to sell and put that money away since the stock market is peaking.. If you own real estate you hold and never sell period.. If you have money in the bank saved you keep it there for when the next down turn hits, then cash is king and you buy..
This is how you get rich in life off just investing... When the world is buying you sell, when the world is selling you buy in the simplest of terms.....Comment -

#5380Do we have a choice?
Been around the investing game for 25 years and seen the ups and downs.. Took advantage of that down turn already one time, plan to do it again in the future..
Put away fear and buy when the market crashes, put aside greed and sell when the market is peaking.. If you can do that you'll do just fine..
Gotta save some scraps in life first or you can't invest and you'll just be a spectator which kinda sucks because you'll know....Comment -

#5382There are booms and busts, and who's in office isn't a very good predictor. The only thing you can say for certain is that a bust still needs to happen for the market to correct, and the longer the fed tries to avoid it, the worse it will be.Comment -

#5385Depends how you define "failed"; if you're looking at it for any length of time, it hasn't failed under anybody. Democratic presidents have presided over bigger average gains, Republican congresses have done the same, and in neither case can the stock markets performance be shown to be tied to what party holds either.
Historically, stock market performance correlates more strongly by month than by party in charge of white house or congress. Doesn't mean it's cause and effect, although it's human nature to believe so.Comment -
