it would be easy for anyone OTHER than a YOUNG child to get into an enclosure
honestly its something i think about when i am at a zoo
like shit...this would actually be easy to climb the fence(yes its high, but not THAT high) and jump on in
Make it covered. Zoo where I live you can just walk on a ground level wooded plank bridge, literally 18 inches below you are alligators, so easy to just reach and touch one or even fall in the water, I dont get it.

Um... that fukking gorilla was swinging that kid like a rag doll.
If that's protecting that kid...
I wouldn't want to be a son of that gorilla.
I'd really like to give that gorilla the benefit of the doubt. But, you simply can't take any chances.
That was the gorillas way of saying back know off. He thought the child was in danger and wanted to get him out of harms way

God saved the child.
Michelle Gregg defended herself in a now-deleted Facebook post, writing: "God protected my child until the authorities were able to get to him. My son is safe and was able to walk away with a concussion and a few scrapes... no broken bones or internal injuries."
Gregg continued, "As a society we are quick to judge how a parent could take their eyes off of their child and if anyone knows me I keep a tight watch on my kids. Accidents happen..."

I agree with her that everyone is too quick to judge
But to say god cares more about little boys that mature silverbacks is a bit presumptious

I don't think you understand. He was more than just a grilla. He put smiles on kids faces and adults alike. He was just living his life until the kid jumped over on his own. He didn't deserve it man

I have to agree. It is sad the gorilla was killed, but it certainly would have killed that child if someone didn't do something. The media made it look like everything was fine and it was not.

It's called natural selection a stupid kid was stupid enough to jump into a gorilla cage probably shouldn't be around to reproduce.

Krackles I like subtle jokes. This incident screams obvious joke. I also loathe blaming other people for your problems. That being said there is a certain implied safety that you have when entering a zoo.

Witnesses gave a completely different account of the story. Not to mention the zoo tried to lure the gorilla away before shooting it and it would not leave.
Did you see it dragging that kid around and tossing it? Even animal experts said that the gorilla would have killed the kid.

I know I like animals more then people. Lock your dog and your wife in the hot garage for a hour and come home and guess who is happy to see you. This is a sad story that we are seeing too often now

basically what it comes down to is that a lot of people feel that animals are 'better' than humans. i'm pretty sure that anyone who's owned a pet in their lifetime has felt that sentiment at some point. who's to say if they're right or wrong overall though.
personally, i really like animals and don't support zoos, but am not militant about it.. i.e. wouldn't protest at a zoo and try blocking people from entering.
as for this specific incident, the gorilla did swing the kid around a few times but also appeared to be protecting him in moments. personally, if i had to make the call, would've gone with multiple tranquilizers in the hope of saving both lives. had that not worked and infuriated the gorilla causing him to kill the kid, so be it. bottom line, zoos should have the obligation to work equally hard to save their own animals/captives lives.
Yea ok and then they would have killed the animal anyway........
