Your first step would be learning from the overwhelming number of scientists which define it as a threat to the ecosystem and have far more intimate knowledge than you or I on the subject. I would start with oceanic acidification though. It's pretty easy for even a layman to understand the chemistry behind the creation of carbonic acid in the ocean from the expulsion of CO2 in the atmosphere.
