#569Bucks have shit the bed consecutively now. I don't think there is good chemistry between Ellis and Jennings, you would think with two good PGs like that they would do more damage offensively. But giving up 53 rebounds to the Spurs... tough 4th quarter. Hate to state the obvious.
But in any case you had a good night overall.Comment -

#573flat or not my point is if you really know a sport and are good at making picks, you will hit a good %, anyone can double their air bet after losses and be + unitsComment -

#574No. That distinction is HUGE, and completely changes the discussion. I'm currently 74-80 in my NFL thread, but up 19.5u on the year because I hit more of the bigger plays. But I guess by your standard, I'm a loser... Oh well.Comment -

#576I think what he's saying is that people who manage to stay up on units even below 52% are great picking their spots but not necessarily great at picking games in general. So maybe the lesson here is to tighten up the standards on making plays so that you can hit your low unit bets AND be good at picking your big unit bets?Comment -

Same idea as playing some games big really. If you think a particular side/total at -104 is a 56%+ play, that's a ~5% edge, but it's not much different than playing a +200 event where you think it wins 38%+ of the time. Same perceived edge on the line, albeit a smaller necessary risk amount.Comment -

#587I don't think what he was saying was nearly that complimentary, haha. Bottom line, the formula for success in sports betting isn't a simple one. LB gets attacked for betting $2000/$5000 on games he feels he has a larger edge, while putting $100/$300 on games where he just has a small one. You can't evaluate those two wagers on the exact same basis and expect to get a meaningful result unless you're accounting for the variance in the wager size.

That makes sense generally and i agree, but when we are talking about Lakerboy, 7secondsOrless is right.
This guy doubles or even more after big losses. One, two, three... its matter of luck, someday he will hit it and he will get it back.
This is not capping. This is air betting, unless you have an endless bankroll.
If he has, then good for him. But that is dangerous for everyone who might follow him. That's why 7secondsOrless must have voice here; protecting amateurs.Comment -

#592You believe that? Ellis was great with GS in my opinion. I saw much more of him then when he was on the westcoast, not so much now. As for Jennings he was really the only name that came out of MIL, besides maybe the bench play of Dunleavy, after the Bogut trade. They did have a good start to the year, they're not pulling their weight now however.Comment -
