    LT or AP?
Who will have more rushing yards in the 2008 NFL Regular Season? Most rushing yards in the 2008 NFL Regular Season. Both players must play first game for wagers to have action. Single Only. Max $100.
    Adrian Peterson (MIN)
    -110

    LaDainian Tomlinson (SD)

I probably wouldn't bet either side, but I'd lean Peterson. Tomlinson is at the very early stages of his inevitable decline, while Peterson is a young beast if he's healthy.

    Projection:

    Tomlinson: 1350 yards
    Peterson: 1500 yards.

tomlinson started slow, but the guy has been one of the best backs in the league...however he is getting up there in age in terms of being a top NFL RB now, plus with the loss of Michael Turner he won't be able to catch his breath as much....Peterson and Chester Taylor are backs plus even Maurice Hicks who isn't a bad back....Peterson is also younger and (exempting any injuries) Peterson has to be slated to establish himself as a top if not the new top RB for now

You guys all make valid points, but I'd still say my namesake (LOL) nips AP by year's end. Remember that Tomlinson did nothing in the first month of the season last year, so with a normal start, he should be just fine. And yes, LT will still get his breathers, probably by Jacob Hester.

nope I just think his days of dominating are over and its not to say he's not a great back still, its just that time catches up with everyone...

Take LT one more time. I think LT has one more year of dominance left in him. AP has the potential, the line, the team to put up big numbers, but he'll still be sharing carries with Chester. It might come down to who you think can stay healthiest for 16 games, and that's a darn good question. For 2008, I'll give it to LT.

I'd take AP. The guy was pure class last year as a rookie. He's only gonna get better this year. LT is getting older and slower.

I was examining some stats from 2007. Did you guys know that the Chiefs, Broncos & Raiders were 3 of the 5 worst run defenses in the league?! That starts a nice cakewalk for LT. Peterson will face the Packers & Bears twice each, although their run D was middle of that pack stat-wise, I expect Chicago to bounce back defensively from last season as well as the Packers making steady improvement on run D from last season.

If you look at the rest of the schedule, AP & LT have nearly identical schedules outside their division. They both square off against the NFC South and AFC South divisions. Talk about a fair competition between AP & LT! To finish things out, LT gets NE & Pitts, AP gets NYG & ARZ. According to the stats, that comes out basically as a wash as well.

LT gets a big edge in the divisional matchups, the rest of their schedule is squarely even.

yea analyze it all you want and run your stats..thats the problem with this....analyze what Peterson did against the vaunted Bears defense, which was still considered good at the time!!! Tomlinson is a great back no doubt, but his time has passed. Just like for fantasy he will still be selected first (I don't even play fantasy lol) but I know enough to know he is consistently a top 3 pick for leagues...Stick a fork in him, he's done as being the best back in the league! Those are the only facts you need

The Bears will figure out Peterson. If there's one thing Chicago can figure out, it's smash mouth defense. Look for AP to leave the field on a stretcher when he comes to Chicago.

Idea! Do the Chargers run away with the West, if they do, LT sits out in the end of the season then what? Other than that it's all about injuries, whoever is more healthy.

I wonder how many yards AP gets for every game he misses with injury. Since I know LT missed fewer games in his career than AP missed during his first year, that is a very pertinent ? in this discussion.

Also, looking at how AP ran out of steam at the end of the season also is relevant, don't ya think?

                            Sophomore slump.

                            LT will out rush AP.

Peterson is way too good and from seeing him play at Oklahoma he has what the real good ones have....personally this is truly a degen bet (but that goes for most ppl in here) because so much crap can happen over 17 weeks....Still Peterson is a freak and if he stays healthy its not even close...believe that

I have the Chargers running away from the West, but not the rest of the AFC. The Chargers will be chasing the Pats all season so they don't have to go there to play in the ice in January.

Minnesota might be the team resting AP at the end. Childress limited AP's carries last year, so there's a history there. Especially since he's got a solid #2 RB in Chester Taylor when AP takes a rest. Minny could very well wrap up the NFC North by midseason if Rodgers falters for the Packers.

LT no longer has Lorenzo Neal blocking for him. That could be big.

But I could see Peterson have a bit of a letdown season after such a rookie year. That was the first time defenses faced him. They'll be better prepared this time.

Chargers offense has more options, so going with LT.

LT is the safer bet and should edge out AP
It's going to come down to if AP can stay healthy, which I don't think he will.

AP lost Tony Richardson, so I call it a wash in respect to FBs. If anything, I give Tony Richardson an edge over Neal.
