How crazy would it be to see Vick back with the Falcons in 2k9?

He will be released next July - which means he should be ready to slide into a backup role & slowly work his way back into the starting lineup if the Falcons want him back. The key word here of course is "if".

I have a hard time believing that any team would take a chance on the kind of circus / baggage / nonsense that you have to put up with in order to deal with this guy. He was like that before all this dog fighting stuff came up.

This country gives second chances.. Many times more than that, especially to celebrities and athletes.

If he serves his time, and does something phony within the community there's no legitimate reason he shouldn't be able to play football again if a team is interested in him.

            Vick

Michael Vick still has state charges in Virginia pending.
He will be facing a trial there this summer

i think the whole situation is insane.

you have people like leonard little (killed someone drinking and driving) and other people that have inflicted bodily harm, possibly been involved in killing others - although i have my doubts (ray lewis), and crazy other things...well i know that it's not right to kill dogs (i'm a dog lover), i think the situation is totally overblown because he's a black athlete. freakin guys like chumra are banging 17 year old baby sitters and no one cares....

goodell is racist and the nfl is a joke and totally biased when it comes to reprimanding players for off the field problems

Goodell is holding NFL players to a higher standard than the general population. It's questionable, but perhaps correct. Look at how the MLB and NBA are laughable leagues these days with their respective player integrity scandals. I agree with setting a standard for behavior, but not sure how extreme it needs to be.

haha except when it's bellichek and goodell just avoids the real problem and slaps him on the wrist

I'm not talking about that at all.

The guy is trouble. Even before he got into this dog fighting problem. His presence is disruptive because of his attitude and his behavior. The circus he would bring with him now would be even more disruptive. No professional organization needs that kind of nonsense. Has nothing to do with "forgiveness".

I can't understand why the double jeopardy provision does not apply here. You cannot be tried twice for the same crime. How is Virginia getting around that?

He did have a # of 'incidents', most of which were just embarrassing flaps. He was never officially charged with breaking a law (prior to dog stuff), unlike some of the leagues more disciplined/troubled players. But I get where you're coming from, he was already a public nuisance for Arthur Blank.

I do remember him having to be tried in VA. The VA charges are state-only charges I believe and they could add another year onto his term. If he isn't out by 2k9 I think he's definitely done as far as the NFL goes.

                          What a waste.
