I just wanted to let you know of a statement made by jerry ones today on a local sportsradio station in Dallas. I will give you the statement and you can take from it what you want as I am not reading anything into it. Jerry Jones was asked about thew upcoming game with Washington and he said the following - Dallas will play all starters hard per his instructions and will do everything to beat Washington. he said he wanted Washington "handled" so they did not have to possibly play them three times in the same season. The NY giants were brought up in the same scenario and he said all he could control was taking care of Washington and do his best to make sure Washington doesn't make the playoffs. He cited different games when a third matchup was an issue and also explained players get hurt in shorts during practice so playing them at 100% would do nothing but put them in a position to get hurt. He noted there had been career ending injuries in practice and that Dallas would play to win this week. Just thought I would drop that information for those who cared and take it for what it is worht. Good luck to everyone this week and I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas.

#3I can't doubt you there as Dallas has had a horrible season ending month or so the past few years. I have been cleaning up on taking Dallas opponents the last three weeks. The only game I can remember losing this year involving Dallas was the GB game in which I took GB. After listening to the local media and following the Cowboys since 1993 they become somewhat predictable. Good Luck MOFOME and welcome to SBR. You have made some good contributions to this forum lately and I enjoy reading your posts...Comment -

thanks buddy. i was just giving ya a hard time. i see your a boys fan and i am a diehard skins fan. my feeling is, an owner can want to win as much as he wants, but if his players dont have that edge already, they wont get it from him. dallas shouldnt be able to match the intensity the skins come with on sunday....its only natural to let down a bit knowing you've done all you can.
thanks for the words. glad to be here.

#6I don't know if i'd necessarily believe Jerry Jones. Regardless, I don't think the Cowboys will dare to play its injured players.
It says in the above article that any player limited in practice will likely sit out. This includes TO, center Andre Gurod, cornerback Terence Newman, safety Pat Watkins, and NT Jay Ratliff. Terry Glenn will play Sunday, but likely only with a limited number of snaps. This means that the Cowboys will not have their most talented receivers in for most of the game. The last time these two teams met, ALL of the Cowboys points (except for the extra point per TD) were scored by TO. He scored 4 times that game, but he's out on Sunday. In addition, with the way the Redskins stopped the Vikings RB Adrian Peterson last week, they shouldn't have a problem containing Cowboys second stringer RB Julius Jones.
Another article on the Cowboys site says Romo wants to play the entire game against the Redskins, but will likely see limited play time, because it is not his decision.
Redskins have been very consistently lately, and could be emerging as the team to beat in the playoffs, assuming it beats the Cowboys.
I think the Redskins easily handle the Cowboys and win by maybe 17. The Redskins want it more and will have better talent on the field, since the Cowboys will play several second stringers.
PICK: Redskins 31, Cowboys 14Comment -

#7I hate to rain on your guys parade but I've been following the Cowboys, Redskins rivalry since the 70s. They will not lay down and let the Redskins pound them. Can I remind you that Brad Johnson has a Superbowl ring and is as good a backup as there is in the league. As a matter of fact he's better than any QB on the Redskins roster at this point. This is a rivalry game no matter who plays. Making the skin's that big of a favorite is too much. I'll take the boys on a small play here as this game should be decided by a FG either way. The team with more to play for against the one that doesn't is an overated angle.Comment -

#8The Redskins need it more but how can you measure wanting it more? Did someone take a poll in both locker rooms? Trust me, the Cowboys want to beat the Deadskins just as bad. Cowboys 2nd string could matchup with Redskins.Comment -

#10I know Dallas will rest players with injuries and will be a little conservative IMO. I was a little surprised by Jerry jones' comments but after listening to him on a 30 minute interview I think Dallas will give it their best effort to eliminate Washington. I think the game comes down to the wire and have not done enough research on the game. I am going to look at tape of both teams today and do a little more reading before I decided on thi9s game. Also betting against a team which I have watched and had season tickets to since 1993 does not make you an untrue fan as one eluded to earlier in tshi thread.Comment -

you should watch more football, then your posts would make more sense. the boys could have easily lost to the skins once already this season. their backups would get smashed, their starters will get smashed.

#16Dallas came one play from losing to Washington in Dallas. The game in Washington will be a close match regardless IMO. I am concerned with Dallas -9 and will take the points...... This does not mean I am not a fan of Dallas but rather think Washington is the play here.Comment -

How could you get the line that wrong, you are an idiot to think Dallas playing there 2nd string could be -9 against a hot redskin team, to most people that would have rang a bell saying hey I think this line is funny and they would double check it.
You are not a Dallas fan, If you root for your money over them then you aint a fan. I don't bet Dallas games most of the time, I try to stay away. Sports are my life I love them, gambling is just a hobby and I try to make extra cash.Comment -

#30Take the Redskins. They are running hot, the Cowboys won't have enough bullets in the barrel. It's usually best to ignore anything that Jerry Jones says in the press. The Cowboys are playing to rest and protect players, the Redskins are playing a playoff game against their most hated rival.Comment -
