Are The Lions This Week's Ravens?
Are The Lions This Week's Ravens?

Two weeks ago, Ravens played their asses off against the Pats. Shoulda won the game. Couldn't close the deal at the end. Lost a heartbreaker. And came back and got blown out the following week against the Colts.

This seems eeriely similar to the Lions situation this week. Last week, played their asses off against the Cowboys. Shoulda won the game. Couldn't close the deal at the end. Lost a heartbreaker. Now, they're getting 10.5 points on the road at beat-up San Diego.

Do they come out and play well and cover the spread this week against the beat up Chargers? Or do they come out and play like sh*t on the road and get blown out?

    Thoughts and opinions welcome!

Doc, I've been looking at this game all week. I do think they go to SD and lay an egg. They put alot into the Dallas game and came up short. Alot of the rebound depends on the head coach and his attitude and the staff preparation. I don't think Detroit has gotten over it. It takes someone like a Dungy or a Belichick to keep a team from emotional swings. Plus, it's usually the middle of the pack teams or lower that have that rollercoaster emotional ride. Detroit fits perfectly here. I think SD will be one of my bigger plays this week.

      Seer,

Ordinarily I'd be all over SD...but they're so beat up. As IMGV as stated in an earlier thread, SD has some people out (Meriman) and a a bunch of people (Rivers) banged up.

OTOH, SD usually plays pretty well at home. They're on a little bit of a roll. And the Lions have not been a good road team this year (or any year within recent memory, for that matter).

So, I'm still in a quandry for which way to go. Leaning toward SD, may pass.

Same here Doc. I've been checking the injury report. I'll either pull the trigger on SD or nothing.

          Doc,

Your point is well taken, but there is one difference. At 6-7, the Lions are still just one game out of the wild card, so that may be enough to keep them motivated. On the other hand, the Ravens were burried a long time ago, so the New England game was their Super Bowl, and they had zero motivation last week.

I lean towards San Diego. Teams that suffer demoralizing losses, like Detroit, don't seem to bounce back well. And the Lions, when seemingly poised for a playoff berth, have lost five straight while covering just once. Its more points that I like to give a team like SD, but I think in this case you have to. Detroit struggles on the road, San Diego is a different team at home . . . there are just too many things in the Chargers favour.

I love this angle. SD -10.

I also like Miami against the Ravens this week for the same reasons. Maybe Miami finally wins one, but I definitely like Miami to cover +3 1/2.

If the Ravens have any pride at all they will destroy the Dolphins.NFL teams coming off a beat down like the Ravens against the Colts usually play with a lot of fire their next game.Dolphins get burned 23-10.

I've changed my mind on this one after further review. I'm probably gonna lay off. I don't like this weeks card much at all. I'm probably gonna play several dogs.

Hindsight is, of course, always 20/20 but the answer to the question was: Yes the Lions were this weeks Ravens.

Of course, the Ravens were this week's Ravens, too! LOL
