"Tim" Hassleback was my favorite in the Madden video game. He would work for cheap and was good enough .
I'll have to think more though about the non video game version of these guys because a clear #3 does not jump right to mind.

Before the season started, i'd have said Palmer hands down. But with Cinncinati's struggles i don't know if it's a slam dunk anymore. Granted most of their struggles are on the defensive end but he still has not been near the the QB this year as in previous years. The thing that struck me most when thinking of this answer was just how mediocre the QB contingent is. After the top 2, there are maybe 3-6 guys who you could say are interchangeable depending on what you are looking for in a QB. But get into the next teir and OMG it's a who's who of mediocrity.

Big Ben isn't _that_ good (if he didn't get the ring, he might not be top 10). His stats aren't very good - and he is blessed with 1 game breaking receiver.
Romo's resume isn't as good as the hype has you believe (he's a playmaker for sure, tho - top 10 probably). Romo is unique and has flashes, but he really doesn't take care of the ball well.
Brees could be, but he's having a horrible season thus far. He doesn't have much for wideouts, either. Losing Horn was brutal, even though Horn is at the end of his career.
I think Palmer is the easy choice. He can make every throw. I thought he'd challenge to get into the top 2 this year - but it's hard to win when your d is on the field the whole game.
I like Brady as the #1 choice. I've been beating that drum for years. He hasn't had a pro bowl receiver, manning has 2. The 3 rings already puts him on the level of 'greats of all time'... And watching him this year with 'top' tier receivers (donte stalworth isn't even top tier, but is explosive - and wes welker is a great 3rd receiver) - you get to see just how good he is. If he didn't have street free agent trash last year, it's likely NE wins it all. hehe Reche Caldwell... DOH DOH.

I think Palmer is a clear third.
Then Roethlisberger and Brees are 4 and 4a.

You wouldn't put Romo in the top 5?

Romo too inconsistent. I think he's the second best QB in Texas.
You can't blame Palmer for having a moronic coach and DC and players who don't understand how to succeed in the NFL or in life.

I never thought I would say this but as it stands right now I think Eli Manning is #3. I think they have a good chance at winning their division this year. They won't get any farther than that though.

Carson Palmer despite this season's struggles. He has the best arm and third best head.

So far this season it's Favre. Warner has been very sharp, when he's played. And I would never count out Roethlisberger. Romo is making the step to the top, and Palmer never will.

Maybe Palmer never will IN CINCINNATI. Take him away from the thugs and put him on a team that has a clue and he could approach the Big 2.

Forgot to mention Garrard. For me the #3 spot is between him and Favre.

I think Carson Palmer gets a little two much credit as the potential 3rd best QB. He has a good/great O to work with, but just seems to fall short of totally taking advantage of it at times.

i don't think it's favre, he throws up a lot of balls that can get picked.. i like that guy in washington i think it's campbell, last week against green bay he had 1 overthrow , but the rest were spot on.. if his recievers could catch , he would have some nice stats and washington wudda won by 17

Palmer is not a leader. If he was, the players would fall in line behind him.
What does it matter if Favre throws a few picks? Packers are winning, and they did it without running in at least the first four games. That's all on Favre.
Campbell is on his way. Much more under the radar than Romo, but probably just as good.
Looking forward to Garrard versus Manning.

Yeah, but I think I jinxed him by having him as my QB in fantasy football this year.

For me its between Garrard and Garcia. Trust is very important that the QB doesnt give away a game, none of the others listed I can fully trust.

Carson Palmer is the answer for fantasy football.
For 3rd best in the NFL today, I say a guy like Eli Manning. He is playing well, is making better decisions and looks poised. After a rough start he's led his team to 4 straight victories.

You make a good point. I toyed with the idea of mentioning Garrard, but I need to see just a little more. Let's see what he does on Monday night.
