I was betting live in a Bitcoin sportsbook and bet on the Jets +5,5 handicap when the score was 21-24 in favour of the Raiders after the Jets had scored a touchdown plus 2 point conversion. Most other books had +3,5 handicap at this point however this basically meant the same thing.....the chance that the Raiders would win by 4 or 5 exactly is near to zero, right? It would either stay 3, or become 6 or 10/11, or ofcourse the Jets would win. So my bet was a normal one in my opinion.
All good, but a lot happened after this bet and in the end the Jets took the lead. When the score was 28-24 in favour of the Jets with just 1:30 to go it was pretty much clear thay my bet would win. And then I suddenly heard a "pling" sound meaning the bookie had just settled a bet. I looked and saw to my horror that my bet was VOID!
They are saying it was a "bad line" but WTF, this is so unfair. It may have been a little unusual line but for sure not a clear error which gave me a clear advantage! And the fact that they waited till my bet had basically 99,9% surely won and only then voided (bet was pending normally for 30 mins before this) is even more rediculous.
The reason for this thread is basically to ask you NFL fans if I am correct in saying that +5,5 basically meant the same thing as +3,5 at that point. I'm not a huge NFL expert but know a little. Would you say I bet on an obvious error and does this justify a late void?
