The Dallas Cowboys will cover the big chalk at home on Sunday when they face the Detroit Lions who are looking for next year's #1 pick with a loss.
This is the sixth year in a row for these teams to square off, and the Cowboys are 4-1 ATS vs the Lions including a 20-7 win as an 8-point favorite last year. Dallas had a 26-11 first down edge in the game and all four of their scoring drives were kept alive after failed third down conversions thanks to Detroit penalties as the Lions tallied 17 penalties for 129 yds for nine Cowboy first downs.
Dallas is 8-2 ATS at home vs sub .500 teams under head coach Bill Parcells. Detroit is 5-2 ATS in their season finale while Dallas is 1-5 ATS.
The Lions' attrition has worn this team down as they were on a 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS run. The Cowboys may be flat here having played four primetime TV games and the Giants, and are coming off a Monday Night game vs Philly. Detroit has completely collapsed this year due to injuries, and despite the impressive numbers by QB Jon Kitna, most of those have been in garbage time.
The Cowboys exited the Falcons game healthy and should be here as well. The Lions' road woes have continued this year as they are 0-7 SU and 1-6 ATS. Last season, Dallas knew the outcome of their playoff chances before they played the Sunday Night game vs St Louis and lost by 10. But look for a much better effort here as the Tuna goes all out vs a bottom feeder.
Forecast: Dallas-24 Detroit-3
Play: Cowboys -12½
