With their offense hitting on all cylinders now, the right play is on the Falcons this Sunday when they face the Lions in Detroit.
The key to this contest is that we just do not see how the Lions could slow what has become a devastating Atlanta offense.
The Falcons still lead the NFL in rushing at a robust 210.9 rushing yards per game. But what makes this team dangerous right now is the transformation of quarterback Michael Vick the last two weeks as he has seven touchdown passes in two games. As a result of this newfound balance, the Falcons scored 41 and 29 points in those two contests respectively. We feel that Atlanta will be able to name the score here vs. a Detroit defense that is allowing 27.0 points and 350.0 total yards of offense per game.
Do not forget the Falcon defense either, as that unit is allowing just 19.1 points per contest. Sure the Lions are coming off of a bye week, but that does not help much if a team has no talent, and the Detroit offense has been almost as bad as its defense while scoring only 18.9 points per outing. The Falcons rolled 27-7 when these clubs met on this field last Thanksgiving, and we are looking for yet another Atlanta blowout in this spot.
