I agree that we might need to know a little more about them. I can say that St. John's isn't the team they were last year but they did beat W&M the other day by 15 so if Leigh is anything like them, this could be another blowout. Probably going to stay away from this game and go over in the Akron/MS game.

quick research tells me both are young teams. First game for Lehigh. They have a real nice guard in CJ McCollum, he averaged almost 22 ppg last year, but not much supporting cast. line is sharp.

Lehigh has lost its last 2 season openers, both on the road, by an average of 13 points (2009 @Ricmond 65-53 and last year @ PennState 70-56). Unlike William & Mary they have a ball handling point guard in CJ McCollum that can break St Johns frenetic press. McCollum is also their leading, and really only scorer, averaging 21.8 points in a game. Lehigh is well coached and understands the importance of ball security in this game. They also understand that theyre gonna have to be patient on the offensive end, moving the ball around the perimeter so that everyone getting touches against ST Johns stingy D. They return 77% of the teams scoring from last year and 78.5% of its rebounding from a year ago. Having said that, they play in a piss poor conference (Patriot league) with the likes of American University, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Army, etc...In their two games last year against major competition they lost by 14 at Penn State, mentioned above, and at USC last December they lost at USC (California USC) 49-76. Theyre a tough and scrappy little team, but really have no scorers to speak of except for CJ McCollum. The play here in my estimation is under 149.5

Lehigh isn't bad at all. McCollom is an all everything guard whose easily the best player in their conference. The supporting cast is better than you think and this is a pretty high scoring team. They led the Patriot league in scoring last year and I expect more of the same this season. I'm looking for about 70 points from Lehigh tonight... can't see St. Johns scoring the 85 ish that would be needed to cover against that.

85-70 would put the game at 155... If you think both teams will be "much less" you should be playing the under large tonight.

I think Lehigh around 70 is right on the money.. I see St. Johns between 75-80. Looking for 77-71 type of game, which would put the game right around the total. What makes you expect such a low scoring game?

You do realize the Lehigh team total for this game is listed at 68.5 right? You act like this is some crazy off the wall prediction.

Read my 12:02 pm post above in this thread. The last 3 games in which Lehigh has played against named opponents (Richmond, Penn St, USC) theyve scored 56, 53, and 49. St Johns D is too tough. This isnt a patriot league game they are playing in, where D is optional. Lehigh only has 1 threat in CJ McCollum, shut him down and who else scores??? CJ wont be going off like he does in the patriot league, not against this D. They just dont have the scorers against this D. Lehigh will play a ball control, slowed down pace in this game.

People will not give credit to this Lehigh team. I have seen this team play over and over being from Bethlehem PA and this is not a bad team. I have watechd McCollum since he was a freshman when he won Patriot league player of the year and he dropped 26 on Kansas in the first round of the NCAA tournament to give Kansas a scare up until late in the game when Kansas was able to pull away with a 16 point victory not covering the line of 26. Since McCollum has been on this Lehigh team the Mountain Hawks are actually 6-0 ATS. Granted they usually only have lines on their tournament games since they play in the patriot league but that is worth something saying they play tough in big games.
