Very broadly speaking (at least for college basketball), pace and efficiency are the two most important stats in my opinion. (I say two stats, but it's really three: pace, offensive efficiency, and defensive efficiency.)

This article has a pretty decent introduction to the concept and has some references that you could use for further digging: https://www.vsin.com/using-efficienc...ge-basketball/

Gotta walk before you run. Might be very difficult to go from not knowing anything to making quick decisions on the fly in a dynamic environment, but that's up to you.

Not trying to insult you, but just want to point out that this is the college basketball forum. College basketball and the NBA are very different in game play and in structure (i.e., 353 college teams vs. 30 in the NBA, 2 20-minute halves in college vs. 4 12-minute quarters in the NBA, 30 second shot clock in college vs. 24 second shot clock in the NBA, etc). Sorry if that's too basic, but from your posts I gather you may not be in the U.S. and may not be as familiar with those differences.

I don't do a lot of it, but there are some interesting in-game opportunities with totals in college whether you're looking to hedge or middle a particular bet.

Here's a link to my thread from last season. My last three college basketball threads have all ended in winning seasons, and there are links in this thread to previous seasons where I talk a lot about my approach. I'm under no illusions that I'm the best or that my approach is the only one that works, but I am pretty consistent and I enjoy doing the analysis and sharing ideas.

Talk NCAA basketball handicapping, picks, matchups, basketball odds and teams in the NCAAB betting forum.
