John Morrison 2012-13 NBA Thread -
Sportsbook Review Forum
Games for (2/13/13): #52Resumes (C) on 2/19/13 #55 Philadelphia @ Milwaukee (M/L)(B)(8:05 pm EST) #56 Portland (+5) @ New Orleans (B)(8:05 pm EST)
We will ALWAYS play the M/L on favorites and the point spread (-110) on dogs. The team underlined and highlighted blue is the play. There is no point buying in this system, with one exception, if your team is the favorite, and buying down to a (-½) point spread is cheaper than playing the M/L, then by all means, buy the points, otherwise, M/L on all favorites and point spread on dogs. All results will be based on this principle. All lines and standings are based on FINAL lines from ScoresandOdds.com/. If one of the teams we are playing switches from a favorite to a dog, after my initial post, make sure you get the appropriate line if it differs from what I have posted. The wins and losses will be based on who is the dog team, and who is the favorite on ScoresandOdds.com/ final lines. I will try to update my post as often as I can throughout the day, if the lines change. However, it is the individual bettor’s responsibility to get the appropriate line if it differs from the line in my post. System rules and backtest can be found in post #219.

Well, Stevex, I disagree. It has to be the case that at some point during the development of the JM system, it was established that the filters improve the system overall. Otherwise the filters would not exist. Yes, as we know, most times a series that would otherwise have been filtered out, will win. Just like Phoenix did last night. However, at least one time in 20, a series that should have been filtered out, but wasn't, will lose. Also, remember that the filters are imposed rarely: worst road team in the conference and most effective player out. These are not massive obstacles to progress so overall they cost us very little when we use them, but they will occasionally cost us 20 units if we do not use them, which is a significant effect.
Also, as you are the JM publisher in this thread, I believe that you should let us know whenever an official JM filter should be imposed. I don't care what your personal views are about the filters, but you are obliged to let us know if the JM pdf would filter out a series. We can each then decide what to do with our own money.
K thanks you done posting for a while now?

Hi Alexknyc, you wrote:
Actually, he's not "obliged" to do anything.
I suggest that if someone says he will post the JM Traditional system, that he does just that if its possible. That would include all plays and filters, as published in the JM pdf. I would add that I am very grateful to Stevex for his posts. But, its your next comment that I really want to discuss:
we all know those filters were established....
"We" being whom? I presume you mean the small clique that regularly write on this board. However, the real "we" is everyone from across the globe who opens up this thread to read and discuss the Morrison systems. This is the WORLD WIDE web and you cannot, IMHO, assume that we all know the same thing. Yes, you and I have read some short discussions about these filters but those discussions are not now on the board.
Back to the heart of the matter; the validity of the filters, which is a proper discussion point: You said:
those filters were established ex post facto to erase losses. There was no thought behind any of them.
Can you prove that? Can you post e-mails from JM himself (whoever he is) supporting that assertion? How do you know there was no thought to them? Also, even if he did create the filters after losses to improve his stats, we shouldn't have a problem with that. After all, if his future stats also improve, then so will our profits. Wallco is currently working on a filter to avoid big ML bets, which he can only apply retrospectively to his stats. We will not dismiss his filter if it improves the historical stats.
Where I (as we all) do have a problem with JM is that he "forgets" to apply his filters and so we bet on those series when they should be filtered out. Most occasions we get away with it, but when he sends out an e-mail when the filter should be applied and the series loses, we rightly get indignant with him when he writes his e-mail next day stating that it should have been filtered out. That makes him an @rse.
Therefore, to ensure that the many hundreds of JM subscribers who visit this thread are protected from JM's devious nature, we should at least discuss the filters whenever they come up. To give us the heads up ahead of the risky series we need to have a watchdog, which brings me back to my opening comments. You are correct in saying that the spreadsheet has the plays, but if thats all we need why are there 3000+ posts? Answer: the spreadsheet is not enough, JM's e-mails are sadly lacking in guidance and we need to discuss some of the more risky series (those that should be filtered out, perhaps)

Kev you say "can you post facts?" I'll give you one example and then the rest you can come up with yourself....
I think it might have been 3 years ago, maybe 2.....the Houston Rockets where a TRUE V1 play, per his system rules. They didn't cover in the first 2 series plays. The C Bet was against the Nets and they where I think 4 or 5 point favorites. The ended up only winning by 2 or 3.
So AFTERWORDS, JM came up with the spread >3 play the ML rule. Again, afterwords....
Boom.

Having a sook when someone pulls him up? Learn how to speak, lowlife, then come in this thread and "diss" me. Again, you're useless in this thread. You don't bring any thing to the table at all and I'm guessing you've lost your $100 bankroll that Mommy gave you for your birthday so now you have nothing to do but come in here and post crap that nobody cares about.

Steve, weren't you the one that said, "I am going to post the JM tradtional system, you got it JM? Just me period."
So now you are posting personal views on how the system should be played? I do believe there was big argument on what people thought of my views on playing a system. Needless to say, people do not give a crap about personal opinions on this thread and want the plays to be published as the rules are written. Same thing is happening in stifler's thread where he is counting one series as a loss and another one as a win and not being consistent with the closing lines. People want consistent post which follow the rules of the system's and not personal lines. No one gives a crap that you labby the plays and your losses will be recovered. I do not know why you even post the labby plays in here because its so close to game time if not after game time, that people can not even follow your labby numbers.
Onto the filters. Yes you may be right about the Hou ML cover up, but I know you do not have all the facts straight. There were several times that I remember phx, maybe two seasons ago, when Nash got injured where the series went onto lose. So where you can think of one win with the filter, I can think of one loss. Also you providing the example of Houston covering up the loss on the ML with the C bet win, had you applied the filter, only adds to our side of the argument that filters need to be stated in your plays.
We all know the filters are used to help JM market an undefeated system, but there is great merit to these filters as well. People do not like them because they may have lost an A bet, where player was injured and are suppose to take A bet loss for the series and move on. ML filter people obviously do not like because of the high juice, but similar to chase110, no one gives a crap about your personal opinions. If people are willing to follow chase110 ML plays, then they are willing to follow JM ML plays as well.
Glad you came up with some new material today steve... Simple, just post the plays as the rules are written and let the people themselves decide how they want to follow.

There should have been another JMorrison NBA thread created to keep it simple. This is the worst thread I've ever seen on sbr. Fail.
