I will do the same. Sportsbet gave me an email address to send it to.

The line of 194.5 is less than 10% of their closing line of 180.

I really suspect they were facing a big payout on this line which forced their hand.

I lost my shiit when the customer service rep told me "I can assure you the person who made this error will be getting a very stern talking to". I asked him "you're joking right? A stern talking to?"

What email address did they give you?

Keep me clued in guys.. I gave up cos I was at work so settled for their offer of 3x free $80 bets & the offer of betting at 178.5 when It was at 179.. i asked for o178.5 for $550 & they said they'd get back to me.. They rang back and said i could have $330 at o178.5 as $550 was above my "normal" bets.. I said fine give me that & hung up as the line dropped to 178.5 again anyway & I was over fighting.. Had I not been at work I would have told them to check my nba records & see I have regular $550 bets!!

Of course the game went under & I lost so am still absolutely fuming at what couldve been a great day!

I let off some steam by punting on donkeys - of course I backed 4 seconds in a row! Wasn't a very productive day at work!
But overall am still furious at the dodgy-ness of it all.. A mate, bigger punter than I, said I shouldve have taken it further..

Guys, if you find some line is off too much, first don't bet on it because it is not worth the risk of being free rolled, second, if you do bet on it, don't say anything as your best chance of bet being honored is to hope the book isn't hammered.

I know some people will be of the opinion "why bother. The books can do what they want" but that's precisely the point. The books will do whatever they want if people don't make a stand.

                  This wasn't a clerical error. This wasn't mistakenly putting an extra 0 for o/u 2000. It wasn't an accidental 3 for o/u 300. It wasn't a decimal for o/u 20.0

This was a book trying to lead the market in a sport they know little about. They received a landslide of wagers on u/200 and tried to even it out by moving the line to 197. They again received a landslide of wagers on the under and for a third time moved the line to 194.5. Then when one-sided money kept rolling in, they have the option to just cancel bets and say "sorry loyal customers. Those last 3 line movements were all errors and we expected you to know better and not try and act on your better judgement by betting them and we will not be honouring your bets."??? I don't mind if people are happy to be bullied by their books and roll over, but I for one am not. The books aren't immune to lapses in judgement and should be made to pay up and honour bets when they make them, just as punters are made to pay for theirs.

Each to their own, but I think their actions justify dusting off the cobwebs on the old thesaurus and taking 15 minutes to write a diplomatic email.
I sent my email earlier today. After speaking to a lady in the NT office, they said the guy (Edward Berry) who deals with these type of gambling complaints is away until Monday. I emailed him directly. If people want his email address, just pm me. I also cc'ed gamblingdisputes@nt.gov.au. There's probably reason for all bookmakers accepting bets in the NT as it's prob most lenient, but I've contacted them for the sake of it. Apparently whatever decision they make, sportsbet will need to abide by. Will be interested in the response..

Yep, I also just got the email confirming I would be paid out. Money is now in my account.

So unbelievably happy with this result, not because of the money but because of the principle.

I still cannot believe anybody said that we should not have bet this line. It wasn't an obvious clerical error. It was, in my opinion, and error in judgement on the books behalf by trying to lead the market in a sport they know nothing about.

The best thing is, if this had of landed over 200, they had already refunded my bet and I withdrew my entire bankroll as a 'threat' to go to another book. We couldn't lose.

Imagine being the guy that pounded this for 15k as was previously mentioned. I'm sure he's a lot happier than I am with this result.

As posted on LTA's thread great work to those that sent in an email.

I reckon they had a large exposure to this result which led to their first decision.

Sportsbet have always been very good in my previous dealings and their final actions will keep me as a customer.

On a side note I was in a Pubtab a few months ago and a guy was betting in their and he placed a Fixedodds bet on a horse paying 89.95. The real odds were 8.95. He placed a $100 on it. The horse won by a nose after battling all the way down a straight. He collected no problem. But he was a bit anxious that they would pay out.

Very pleased with sportsbet's decision here, obviously for the $ but I also feel like my faith in them as a book has been restored. They tried to lead the market and put out a line that punters were happy to jump on and they have accepted the loss. If they suspended the line altogether after the initial influx of bets on u/200 I could understand their "error" argument to some degree, but after they moved to 197 and 194.5 that showed me that they were aware of the money coming in on u/200 and adjusted the line accrdingly.

You would expect in this case the sportsbet and books in general hold all the power, but it just goes to show how powerful a couple of voices can be.

This example is one of the reasons I really respect this forum. It allows punters to come together and share knowledge and try and battle the books. Sometimes I think we lose sight of that and spend our time battling each other.
