It's when you double or triple your next bet when you lose and if you lose again you bet like 10x your original bet and so forth. Basically you just multiply what you risk by 2 or 3 depending on how many games you lose. Donkeys go:

"Well I have a 50-50 shot vs any game vs the spread so if I choose one wrong, there's a 75% chance I get the next one right (since .5x.5=.25, meaning there's a 75% chance you don't lose both games). They bet double bet amount for the 2nd game. Then they lose that game, and they go 'well it's a 12.5% I lose 3 in a row so I'm a favorite to win this one (.5x.5x.5)' and they bet 4x or more their original bet. Then you get a call from your best friend complaining how unlucky he was and that he's down like 100U on a 5 game losing streak.

In theory it should work, but since each game is independent of one another, it doesnt work out in the end (or else Vegas would be BROKE!). Over a meaningful sample size, you will either win a little, or lose a ton. You should look up Martingale systems on the Wizard of Odds site then look up the Gambler's Fallacy and you'll see what I mean.

The oldest fallacy around is the martingale system. I advise you not to do it unless you know when to stop with the system. Preferable at your 3rd loss and hoping that you get a run again and will not have to triple up your money again.

Martingale system kills folks. They are chasing that 1 win so they can take all of their money back and more. Once they win, they starts off at small again.

Only play it if you can afford the loss though. With your cussing behaviors of late, I don't think you should play this system at all.

There is another system of play that is the reverse of this martingale system and that is as follows.

Ante up when you win and bet small when you lose. When you lose small, you can still have that budget bankroll in hoping to catch that winning streak again. When you win, you keep some and take the house money, along with your money to ride that winning streak. Basically, you are playing with the house money.

I use this system of play at the blackjack tables. If I loose, I'm going to loose small but if I win, I'm going to win big. Risk small for high rewards....that's a better way to bet instead of risking high in the martingale system just to win small.
