#38john salley on "best damn sports show" said a couple of years ago that all of the pistons were always aware what the spread was before a game.
And the person who said "why play around and get it that close". The players that aren't in on it, or not aware at all, can make the game become close when it comes to the spread. Plus they are pros, they can slack off or bust off a 10-0 run in one minute whenever they feel like it. Not all "fixes" hit, Donaghy didn't win every bet
Just look at all of the reports of coaches and owners being close friends with refs, that didn't happen in the old days. Stop being clueless.Comment -

#39The NBA is not fixed, it's just nearly impossible to predict what will happen. Just like the stock market. Some of you need to stop blaming "outside" forces for your failures and just realize that what we are doing here is hard. Very, very hard. If it was easy than there wouldn't be a market for this. 90 something percent of people will lose money on here, just consider yourself in the majority. And if you don't have the stomach to take that, than you should find another hobby.Comment -

#40What do players have to gain from fixing games? They're already making millions. It's not like they need to win a $100 bet or something.
I could see refs getting involved but not professional athletes, maybe college players but not someone making millions already.Comment -

#41people that win a bet will claim a game was fixed too, stop with the excuse bullshit.
Why would Bill Gates want more money after he already had billions? How about you just pay attention what happens on the court, you know actual evidence, instead of speculating what the motive and other theory bullshit goes on behind the scenes?Comment -

#42the players don't fix games in the nba, except the time where an anonymous player took a staggering $3000 to fix a game he got $15000 to play in, made total sense.Comment -

#43All these little coincidences do make ya wonder, but we will truly not know for sure. Some ask why would a player be in on it as they are already making millions of dollars a year. Hey, we are all human, and we all would jump on any chance to make a few extra bucks. Could the nba all be a "show" probably, think about this everyone on the arena floor is in on it from the timekeeper to the refs and so fourth. The refs talk to the scores table inbetween every break, they talk to the coaches or staff, and on the floor, the players talk to the refs. Alot of things do make ya go hmmmmm. The sports industry is a business, and they want to make money in each and every aspect. I personally don't care if the NBA is fixed or not, I've done well at capping games, win some and loose some. But one does have to wonder at times. Look at the last preseason game that was supposed to be played between the Heat and Magic, it was cancelled because of some idiot from what I understand putting the wrong cleaning agent on the floor. OK, how the heck does this happen !!!!! Then the following week the 2 teams play one another for real. I think the floor incident was intended to happen, as this was preseason. The NBA knows that most people won't follow preseason, so there would have been a money loss in some aspect of this game. One thing I have noticed this year so far is that atleast one big underdog has one everyday there was several games being played.

#44I've always believed that the players themselves don't bet on the games, but that their posse and family probably bet the games which definately gives them a reason to cover the spread which explains why they do play wierdly at the end of games. Also, don't think they really care about the totals but they do about the spread.Comment -

#46Lots of contrary conspirators w/o real facts to back it up. Hard to say that neither players nor their relatives bet on games. These players makes millions why care for thousands to risk something. What i truly believe refs or the nba always favor some sort of outcome in the league though, so a fix on game is very likely.Comment -

And you make it sound like there is only one player out of those two teams that has a cousin that would like the own a Benz? There would be many and they all wouldn't be betting on the same side. So who decides who's cousin's is going to get a Benz on this night? Maybe we will make it the team that plays better.
Yes I'm sure that there are many out there that know the spread and maybe the over/under. Yes they could try to help a game go a certain way but to say its fixed is ridiculous. Some could be trying for -X.X and some could be trying to help the game go over. But there will be people on the other side of that. They will be trying just as hard to get it to go their way.
People have off nights. Some nights they are on. They could have something else on their mind. These things can effect their play on the court.
I don't believe games are fixed. If they are then you have to look at different things when trying to guess the outcome of the game. Who wants the fix? Which way would they want it to go? Was anyones cousin window shopping at the Benz dealer? Find out this and your golden.

Again, I will say that your weak 'evidence' is nothing more than a coincidence. On the same day there were 2 other games with exactly the same scenario where a guy scored a garbage basket with their team down big. These things happen all the time which means you're bound to see the occasional bucket that goes close to the total/spread. deal with itComment
