First Day betting like an Adult
Last night was my first night of betting on the nba like an adult. For the past week I have been betting the house and losing miserably. I am a college student and have blown through about a grand in the last week by making 200-300 deposits each morning and betting it all on 2-3 games. Well yesterday i made a deposit at a new book. I made 3 small bets on reasonable games and went 2-1 (lost the cavs game). When i saw the cavs were losing, i didn't panic and try to place an irrational bet on the spurs, i only kept my under bet and went on to win. So tonight, I will do my research, bet small, and stick with those bets until tomorrow when Ill try again.

I'm the opposite most of the time, and it gets bad quick when you try to make all your money in one night. You see your first game not looking good, then you start betting 2nd half plays and late college games on the favorites, and all the sudden your in the hole on all your bets, haha. Also, parlays are a killer, unless you hit one of course, hard enough to hit two straight bets.

Couldn't agree more. Even experienced cappers sometimes lose sight of that and go big on "sure bets"(notice the quotes) or they chase. For instance, look at me. Gambling on sports for 8 years total, 4 years off-shore, and I know chasing is the stupidest thing in the world. Known it for years, lose everytime. Yet I still lost 15 units this year chasing, and about 15 more trying to press and dig myself out. For me at least, the NBA is where I tend to lose sight of money management the most. In the NFL I don't go huge or chase at all, and as you can see, my record, my wallet, and units won in the best bet threads and my signature all reflect that. Make a few picks for the day, wager a small part of your bankroll, and stick with em. Easier said than done though. lol. Welcome to SBR, and good luck, the NBA can be tough.

Im with you man. I went on tilt the past 2 days and lost about 6 grand chasing and betting stupid parlays trying to cover for losses. Its back to the basics starting tommorow for me. 200-300 a game like usual and no parlays unless I see a good spot to get a 2 team in. GL to you!
