    Carmelo Anthony To Bulls!?
Wow. This is Nuts. Bulls making a push to contend with the Heat if they pull this off.

The Chicago Bulls are interested in a trade for Carmelo Anthony but can't reach an internal consensus on whether Joakim Noah should be included in the deal.

The Chicago Bulls are interested in trading for the Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony, a league source told ESPNChicago.com on Thursday.

And while the source said that the team is holding internal discussions as to whether the Bulls would allow Joakim Noah to be part of any deal, Chicago has not reached a consensus. Another source close to the situation told ESPNChicago.com's Nick Friedell that Noah would not be part of an Anthony deal.

The Nuggets are hesitant to take back Luol Deng as part of a deal with the Bulls because Denver is leery of taking on long-term contracts with the collective bargaining agreement set to expire on June 30, 2011. Deng is two years into a six-year, $71 million contract, the initial source said.

Noah will make $3.1 million this season in the fourth year of his rookie deal. The center would become a restricted free agent next season unless the Bulls extend his contract.

Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday that an NBA source with knowledge of Anthony's wishes told him Anthony still hopes to convince Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri to trade him, and he prefers a move to the New York Knicks or Bulls.

The Nuggets offered Anthony a three-year, $65 million extension through 2014, but if he rejects it, the team will have to consider trading the forward who has guided them to seven straight playoff berths.

"I think I'm going to convince him to be a Nugget," Ujiri said on Aug. 31. "No, I don't know, I can't make a judgment on that. Like I said, it's a process and until he tells me that ... we want him back, the city wants him back, ownership wants him back."

Anthony has never come out and said he wanted to be traded, however.

At his basketball camp this summer, Anthony dismissed all the speculation of his impending departure from Denver: "I've been hearing that for five years. I'm a Denver Nugget. I'm here, I'm with the Nuggets. I don't become a free agent until next year, if I decide not to take that extension."

Anthony, 26, has averaged 24.7 points per game in his career, including 28.2 last season.

Not surprised the bulls are looking at what a deal would cost. Every GM that is doing their job -- including Pat Riley -- should have spent some time investigating the issue. In the case of the Bulls, a deal will not happen. For the Bulls to be able take back Anthony's salary, they have to give up Boozer (not happening) or Deng; but for Denver to consider taking on Deng's contract (they shouldn't) the Bulls must include Noah, which the Bulls will not do. I suppose it is possible that a third team could be included in order to move Deng, but short of a deal involving worse contracts like Arenas, Brand, or Rashard Lewis I can't think of a single team that would want to take on Deng, not even in exchange for washed up players like a Gadzuric or Eddy Curry. It also makes better sense, if you're the third team, to try to undercut the Bulls offer and acquire Anthony for your team.

From the Nuggets persepctive, I've got to believe that there exists a better deal than Deng + Noah. As long as David Kahn still runs the Twolves, there has to be a scenario where Kahn calls and offers Love, Rubio, and Wes Johnson for Carmelo.

I agree with your first statement, not so much the second. What we have to realize is that Melo is in the LAST year of his contract. So the team receiving Melo must get a commitment from him to stay longer than a year. Otherwise it would be pointless. It would be what KG did with Boston, he signed on to stay which is why they traded for him...

Melo to the Bulls (even though it seems unlikely) would shake up the East a little bit more. However I still think Miami would be better and Boston (for 1 year) will also..

If this were to happen, it would make the bulls the second favorite to win the title. They have a great roster unlike the heat who just have a great 3.

Yes they will... if you can get Melo who is a proven NBA star then you do what it takes, even if that includes Noah. Noah is good, but nowhere near as good as Melo. Melo puts the ball in the basket... Noah rebounds alot, points are worth more then rebounds.

I have no idea why Chicago fans (and I am one) get so attached to certain players.

I hear New Jersey is the frontrunner but why? If you're going to leave go to New York. If New Jersey is the best you can do you might as well stay in Denver.

No offense but that reasoning makes no sense, you don't want to bring in a guy that averages 27 points a game because you do "not think he will stay loyal"... The guy is entering his prime and if we sign him to a 4 to 5 year deal he will play for us. Noah is good, Melo is great.

I will be pissed if its true that Pax wasn't willing to give up Noah...
