I agree Haslem can definitely hold his own with Gasol, it's a mismatch but not a big one. Bynum's knees can't survive a whole NBA season. I won't be too worried about him in the NBA Finals because he will be playing at 60% by then. Joel Anthony is a great under-rated defender also who can come in and hold his own as well with Gasol or Bynum.
Is it Mandatory for Lebron to win the title this upcoming season?

#38Let's think about the intangibles. Regardless of the Heat's roster talent there are plenty of teams in NBA history that did not win a championship when they had the best talent. It's a matter of how it all comes together and the sacrifice of ones stats and Prestige within the game to make it work. If the Heat do that and play within the team concept with some scoring and production off the bench no doubt they make the Finals. Again, though are they really better than the Lakers? Lyon whether you like to admit it or not, Wade and Lebron will both go down as top 15 players in NBA history. Think about that bro. It is a scary thought. And we are lucky to be witnessing something like this is Sports today. We were lucky to witness Jordan, then Kobe, and now this.
Lyon these two are in their primes right now. They are winners. They have the intangibles. They aren't guys like Carmello Anthony or Durants that strictly play offense and no defense. These guys know defense wins championships and Kobe taught them that during the Olympics.
Pat Riley is a winner, Haslem is a winner, Wade is a winner, Lebron and Big Z have been right there but haven't had the glory yet, Juwann Howard has been right there too, these 3 I just mentioned are strictly about intangibles and nothing else.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

Sweet, how about if you switched Kristic/Gasol? Would OKC not been champions? Personally, had Lakers not beat out OKC imo they would have advanced to the Finals.
Durant showed way more heart in the 'playoffs' than Lebron and he never bitched about his teammates and coaches. Never felt the need to self promote himself. He deflects the hype. He is a basketball player that is a winner. He signed a nice extension with OKC without fanfare and hype. If OKC ever gets a big watch out.
We can go back and forth all we want about Miami's dream team but I think it is premature to crown them just yet. I am sure the Lakers will have something to say. BTW, you only have 2 meaningful players in Wade and Lebron. Come playoff time Bosh will be absent against the better more physical teams.
Another thing.. Last I checked you had to make some jumpers in the playoffs since refs tend to allow more physical play. Last I checked Lebron and Wade both have suspect jumpers that come and go. Sure they might light it up, but they are just as likely to be off.
I doubt very seriosuly that Wade and Lebron both have it going at the same time in a playoff series against a serious contender.
Again, I will wait for them to win a title before I crown them.Comment -

You would take Durant over Wade and Lebron? Go ask Durant if he played D on Kobe? My niggga Lyon Kobe saved all his energy this year for the finals. What did he do against Durant? Take Fadeaway Jumpers the WHOLE GAME my man. The whole time. Kobe could have easily taken him off the dribble if he didn't want to conserve that knee for the rest of the playoffs.

#52The Heat are going to be ridiculously good. I never thought they could come up with the supporting cast that they have... their two deep lineup is pretty insane. And while they don't have a good center, they are all serviceable and each can play a different style. Z is good offensively still, especially when you have Wade and Bron driving to the hole. Anthony is a pretty good shot blocker and can run the floor well. Magloire is still decent defensively. Juwan Howard was pretty good at center last year for the Blazers.
The main thing is they have enough guys there that can defend Howard and Bynum well enough as well as having 24 fouls to waste on Howard.
And again their two deep lineup:
Chalmers/Arroyo (both good outside shooters)
Wade/Miller (Miller can just straight bomb three's)
LeBron/Jones (Jones is a pretty good three point shooter as well)
Bosh/Haslem
Center by committee
I mean the fact that not only did they get good players but also got players that fit in with Wade and LeBron is pretty amazing. Every single player listed, as well as Z at center, can shoot very well, and all of them at the 1-3 can shoot threes well. Both Bosh and Haslem can hit very consistently from 15-18 as well as Z.
If nothing is working LeBron and Wade will just drive to the line a few times in a row and get fouls on the other team and then go to the line in the bonus the rest of the quarter.Comment -

#59Personally i think its a failure for the Heat unless they win it all. SJ i noticed how you tried to put LA as the team to beat but it looks like oddsmakers disagree. LA has been to 3 straight finals and as far as i can remember the last team to make it to 4 straight finals was the 1984-87 celtics so making it again for LA would be a pretty big feat in and of itself. The Lakers have an aging superstar while the Heat have 2 of the top talents of this era on the same team. Sure LA has some good pieces but i think Miami really has no excuse but to win it all this year.Comment -
