I'm thinking about doing this. No other team can offer as much as Cleveland, and even if he does leave it will be through a sign and trade deal.

Dont let ESPN fool you..
Lebron isnt worried about the money in his contract, b/c he is 25 years old. This will not be his last contract. Hell he could sign 3 year contracts for the rest of his career. That 7th year of a contract would probably never happen anyway, b/c he will be opting out of deals every year is possible.
Jordan never signed a long-term deal. His last 4 seasons were all 1 year deals for 33 million.

when he says after the game "my people will decide whats best for me" tha sounds like he cares about money and his side deals first.

If he wants to win championships he'll go to the Bulls if he was to sign the most money he can and take a chance with getting the right pieces together he'll go to the Knicks.

He can only make 96 million (5yrs) on any other team, while the Cavs are allowed to pay him 125 million (6yrs)...so it's not a matter of if they can afford it, he just contractually cannot make as much money elsewhere as he can in Cleveland by NBA rules.

The Knicks are a terrible team. Cleveland is a terrible team minus Lebron, and they have a terrible HC. If Lebron is smart (and I am not saying that he is), he will sign with a team that has a solid HC, and a good supporting cast. Now if Cleveland dumps their HC, dumps the garbage like Shaq and others, and signs some solid supporting players, he may decide to stay. That is a lot to ask of Cleveland. Right now, I have no idea where he is going to go, but unless he goes to a team that can win without him, he will never win a championship. He needs a situation like the Lakers have. Kobe is the superstar of the team, but the Laker can win if he has an off night. That is the situation that Lebron needs.

Season when an nba star won his first championship:
1) michael jordan won it in his 7th season;
2) kobe bryant got it in his 4th season;
3) lebron has never won any, and he's already had 7 seasons;
let's face it, james is over-rated;
the cavs is cursed for intentionally playing to lose during the 2002-03 season---
a ploy which gave them the 1st pick in the 2003 draft, during which the team signed lebron--- back then, the hottest high school ball player.
(guess who gave james his first hummer in high school?)
james is cursed too by his unsubstantiated entitlement;
though undeserving, he arrogantly occupies a throne meant for nba champs.
let us all wake up, and call a spade--- a spade: james is an emperor with no clothes.
let us stop giving excuses for james (hurt elbow, lack of support, etc): kobe plays with a broken finger in his shooting hand; mj played through a lingering contusion in his both feet; keeping yourself healthy or playing through an injury is part of the game called basketball--- surely, king james is not above this rule.
james' overzealous fans wish that james had this or that teammate, or this or that coach. but you see, nba is not a fantasy game--- a true champion can only win with the team and the coach that he has--- this is part of the challenge for any team.
james will never win any championship for any nba team because of his attitude.

I've got to think that Miami is the best option. Pat Riley will coach the team if Lebron joins so he's guaranteed a top coach. He'll be playing with his best friend in the NBA. Miami can afford to bring in Bosh/Amare/Boozer with a little crafty maneuvering in the offseason.

Hm, except Kobe couldn't win without Shaq/Pau/Phil and Jordan couldn't win until he Phil. Lebron has yet to have anyone comparable to Pippen, Shaq, or Pau on his team.

First off, the Suns pulled out of the Amare trade, not the Cavs. Second, Mike Brown won't be fired until they have a replacement lined up.

the difference between 96 over 5 and 125 over 6 isn't 30 million, it's 1.6 Mil a year. I'd give up 5% of my paycheck in a heartbeat at that level to get a championship, and I think Lebron would too.
But let's get back to the situation at hand, where can you bet Lebron stays for +120, and more importantly, where can you bet against it?

I really don't care about Lebron James one way or the other, but I can't fathom a post on the topic of Lebron James that I could disagree with more.
