- Hill matches up well with Bryant.
- Fisher can't guard Nash (I think Phil at some point would be either Artest or Bryant on Nash because Fisher can guard J rich).
- I think Phil might toy with the idea of putting Artest on Amare on times. This will be a huge mistake.
- Gasol can't guard Amare
- Gasol will be solid offensively
- Lopez comes back, can hold his ground somewhat against Bynum.
- Lamar Odom can't necessarily guard Amare when he's in the game because who's going to guard Frye off the bench (not Gasol obviously), so Phil might use small sets at times switch Artest to the 4 Odom to the 5.
- Suns bench > Lakers bench
- Jackson> Gentry
-Kobe>Suns

Amare will be a non factor in the games at staples watch. Goat the suns are facing some serious matchup issues here and the worst thing for the suns is the layoff- the suns have been horrible all year with extended rest. Once they lose game 1 they cant win the series cause Phil doesnt up 1-0.

Don't think Suns can win the series. But the Suns bench is a different animal at home. They don't just play off crowd energy, they're ballers. Amare is the biggest mismatch for the lakers, you know that right? Gasol can't hang with Amare, and Odom is way too much of a pussy, Artest is way too slow. They'll clog the paint with Bynum and Gasol, but don't forget about Amare's mid range game. Can't hang bro.

You're analysis is right in theory, but here is the reason the lakers win in 5 or 6max: Phil is a master at using his teams strength to dictate what an opponent does rather than letting them dictate what he does. He knows when to make changes (like moving kobe onto westbrook) when and only when it's necessary, but does not overcoach. If Juan Howard can relatively contain Amare, then I have no doubt Pau can with the help of Bynum. Rather than worry about who can guard Amare, or who can guard Fry, do you really think either one of those guys can or have any interest in guarding Pau down low? I don't.

It doesn't matter. No one on the lakers can guard Amare. Gasol will get his offensively, but Amare is a solid defender.
BTW, Phil didn't make the move switching Kobe on Westbrook. Bryant demanded it. He told Phil. Phil will at some point take fisher off nash, move him onto J rich, and guard Nash with Artest at times.

It does matter because it's not just that, they have clear matchup advantages across the board with their starters. And Phil will exploit these weaknesses, because that's what Phil does best. Let me put it to you this way:
Amare/Fry/Anyone on the suns can't guard Pau.
Lopez most likely can't guard Bynum and thats if he even plays many minutes.
Steve Nash can guard no one.
Richardson can't guard Bryant.
Grant hill guard Bryant?
And please look at Amare's stats the 4 games this season they played the lakers before you make a statement that no one can guard him. he's averaging 20.25 points (8pts, 18pts, 26pts, 29pts)...which is about 3 below his average. Unguardable no doubt. BOL on your play whatever you decide.

Grant hill is a top 5 1 on 1 defender in this league. He will have the assignment of guarding Bryant, not Richardson.
Nash is not a liability defensively- he can easily guard fisher.
Did you notice a pattern with Amare's stats against the lakers? Every game he played, he did better against them. From 8, to 18, to 26, to 29 points and playing much better overall in the next game. It takes time to figure out the lakers defense. They may contain Amare 1 or 2 games at best until he figures them out. Amare is the best PF in the league.
The Suns will be a far bigger test for the Lakers than OKC was.

Goat... LB.... TD...your discussion regarding the upcoming suns/lakers did not speak to the LAKERS' past play-off experience or body of work.... Why hasn't this particular point been discussed? The SUNS have a veteran starting team (NASH, HILL, STOUDAMIRE, and J RICH) MINUS the play-off experience... I contend that ANOTHER HUGE advantage the LAKERS have in PLAY-OFF SERIES EXPERIENCE WILL BE ANOTHER ADVANTAGE THAT KENTUCKY-FRIED PHIL WILL DIAL UP AT THE ends of halves/games as well as at home...
PLUS, their (LA's) patience on offense will shorten games... AND ALLOW THEM to keep games close even when their OFFENSE is FLAT!!!
FYI... from the coaches' corner...... REMEMBER, IF YOU PLAY team defense and make most of your free throws, THEN, THE TEAM with the MOST open shots WINS the majority of theIR GAMES! AGREED?
ANY THOUGHTS...?

I RESPECT YOUR OPINION ON STEVIE NASH...... HOWEVER, and I'm not a KOBE FAN, who on either team has more of a KILLER INSTINCT than KOBE BRYANT.... isn't that why they call him "THE BLACK MAMBA...?"

Well we can agree to disagree then. I would be very surprised if Amare scores more than 26pts (his average on the season) in more than 2 out or the 5 or 6 games. I don't think Amare's offense is the key to the sun's putting up a fight either. I have been wrong before and could be here as well, but it would surprise me a lot. I predict Lakers in 5 with a couple close games. BOL to you on your plays
