3 Atlanta Hawks players arrested earlier
It appears that Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, and Al Horford were arrested earlier today. The current charges stem from the Hawks filling a grievance of theft of contract money for lack of effort during the Orl/Atl series.

J/K of course but my word have you ever seen a more poor performance than that? Sure we can all agree that we made money off there sorry asses and laughed about it but it needs to be handled. If I was the Atlanta Hawks owner I would not offer Johnson and would do my best to trade the rest of the scum. Orlando was better. We all know that, but the effort was a joke. No heart, No desire, No intensity. That was the most lethargic playoff team I ever seen in my life. All that quitting on the coach crap is garbage. I don't care if Mike Woodson is a mush head are not, but you need to respect yourself and the game and give effort. There was no effort. Such laziness and selfishness and standing around the whole game. Joe Johnson, is a joke. I don't care what his skills are I would not have none of him. People were talking about him being a Max contract guy this summer I would rather have Wesley Matthews of Utah than him. Yea, the same Wesley Matthews Kobe got the best of all series.. Tell you what about that kid...He has heart and did not back down from the challenge one bit from Kobe. He even owned Kobe 1 or 2 plays during the series. Wesley Matthews was a undrafted rookie playing his ass off.

Just wanted to rant about what a joke the Hawks were. I think Lakerboy said it best yesterday when he said they should have been banned from the league and not allowed to play game 4 and made to walk home

Did anybody else notice how sorry they were? I don't care that Orlando was better, but had I been playing for the Hawks they might have beat us by 60, but they would have know they were in the series because I would have hustled my ass off and layed some people out. I don't even know if Orlando knows they swept the series. It sure didn't feel like it to them. Orlando practiced harder than they played. Orlando, you could tell had a gentleman's agreement last nite to not blow them out by 30+. Orlando held back and still beat them covincingly.

Agree with Matthews. Reminds me of when Matt Barnes was on the end of the bench (with Gerald Wallace) for Sac and toiling in Golden State purgatory. Sometimes it really isn't that hard to spot talent, many NBA GM's are complete morons.

Al Horford actually played like he cared. Can't say the same for Johnson or Smith. Smith is a joke and will never win a title. He finds any excuse to stay back down the court and not go play defense. He doesn't give a shit about winning and never will.

It was a money maker for sure but a travesity of the game. That was the worst effort i can remember. LB, do you remember a worse playoff effort? I would have fought somebody. I would have decked people that came to the rim. If I couldn't have gurded my man I would have fouled out and the man I was guarding would have know he had played in a real game.

truly a shameful performance by the Hawks squad. I wish something more could really be done to discourage this kind of thing from happening in the future. The goal of playing is to win. I don't know what purpose the Hawks had in mind.

i knew what it was going to say when i saw the title. haha

stealing money from the fans. they have a claim against the team. disappearing during the playoffs and suffering the worst overall loss ever

atlanta is much better than they played vs milwaukee and orlando.

Joe Johnson needed the money, because he just cost himself probably 30 million dollars in free agency.

It's the effort for me that I can't get over.. Take the Jazz/Lakers. The Lakers were the superior team in all phases of the game, but what happened? Sure they got swept too but it was done in a dignifying manner. The Jazz didn't back down one bit. They played hard took there shots and chased every loose ball they could. They fought the Lakers, but at the end of the day the Lakers were just better. That was the best series I have ever watched for a 4 game sweep.

Hats off to all Jazz fans. No shame in getting beat by a team that is just better.

Yea, if I was the GM/Owner I would make an example of this behavior. Sure they have contracts, but you can still trade them. I would trade them for somebody that wanted to play that had less talent. If I had to pay there salaries to get rid of that scum I would.

Lifetime Hawk fan here. It was known at the beginning of the season that Joe Johnson was 100% not going to return to Atlanta next year. He said so himself, he said he was not going to return to the Hawks. Josh Smith is a great athlete but is dumb, lazy, and lacks basketball IQ.

Basically, the Hawks decided to give game 1 to Orlando because the Hawks simply did not have the energy to compete anyway, coming out of a 7 game series only 2 days before game 1 at Orlando. I honestly believe they talked about this before the game and decided to rest in game 1 and go after it hard in game 2. And that is what they did. The Hawks had a 10 point lead in game 2 until the end of the 3rd quarter when the Magic made a run. The dagger in that game was at the end of the 3rd quarter when Jameer Nelson hit a halfcourt shot to put the Magic up 1 point after 3 quarters. This was an emotional dagger to the Hawks, and when that shot went in, effectively the series was over. Magic dominated the 4th quarter. Basically the Hawks tried in only 1 game, and that was game 2. After game 2 they knew it was over and didn't really try. I think Horford did try but he was a power forward playing center against the biggest physical specimen in the game today at center. He really never had a chance against Howard, that is just a mismatch of epic proportions. All in all the Hawks did not match up with the Magic. You HAVE to be able to put a huge body on Howard. If not you don't have a chance to beat that team. The Lakers and Cavs have huge 7 footers they can put on Howard.

Another problem was that during the season, Josh Smith made a living by rotating off his man to block shots inside. Well everyone knows that Lewis is the magic power forward and that kept Smith out of the paint the entire series. This was how the Hawks lived on defense and against the Magic, that plan is worthless. The Hawks needed to run and the Magic were on fire the whole series, never shooting under 50%.

Guys, there was a lack of effort in combination with running into the hottest, BEST team in basketball right now. Magic never shot under 50% the 4 games against the Hawks, and shot 55% in 2 of the games. With Howard in the middle, if you don't have a big, tall team you are going to get obliterated. The Hawks were a small team.

To sum it up, Johnson was known to not be coming back since last summer I think, Horford should be moved to PF...his natural position, Smith needs to be traded to a team that has a big center, then he can flourish. Joe Johnson is not a number 1 option. This Hawks team was built to run, built for ball movement and lots of action, Woody had them walking up the floor and isolation plays every time down the court. He has to be fired due to a lack of understanding fundamental basketball. He could not coach my local high school team effectively.

Edit: The Magic are the best team in the NBA, and its not as close as people think with the Lakers and Cavs being very distant 2nd.

Yea, I would shake up the league and build a completely new roster. Lure Darren Williams away from Utah, add Chris Bosh and that would be a pretty good start.

Completely unacceptable effort. Especially at the NBA level. All of those players should be suspended for one season with no play and have to get psyche evals to determine............WTF they were thinking.

The first move has to be to get a quality, big, center to battle Howard for years to come. Preferably 2 of them. Bosh is not the answer. Darren Williams would be very nice.

that has yet to be decided. We will see what happens. The lakers are the best team in the NBA until proven otherwise.

It was amazing for a #3 seed to fail like that. Frankly I think bookies are more mad at them, because they handicapped their 1/2 effort for a +6 line at home, they still got blown out.

My favorite player is D Williams but that team was definitely overrmatched like you mentioned. I dont feel bad for any of those faggots on ATL. Get paid millions yet cant bring your A game ? At least try like you said, and they did none of that. NBA playoffs are pretty shitty until the last round(s).

Your knowledge of your team and basketball is good. I agree with all you said above. However, you have to be ashamed to be a Hawks fan. That effort was the worst I have seen. Sure, I can understand the first game being tired or whatever, but they played with noi entusiasm at all. I have played in way more spirited pick up games at the rec center. Atlanta played like they had better things to do.

Utah, was just as outclassed by the Lakers and had to beat a way better Denver team than Atlanta had to beat to advace so you could say Utah was tired also. Utah, was also missing 2 starters but they played the Lakers hard. They fought the Lakers for 4 games and made 3 of them pretty enjoyable to watch.

If I was you I would burn my Atlanta gear. I would not watch them anymore. There coach might be a mental midget. I agree that he is one. However, the effort and energy is on the players to bring that. They did not bring it at all. It was the most shameful performance I can remember in any playoffs. I will not disagree Orlando was a nightmare opponent but they could have done some things to make it fun to watch. You can lose games by 15-20 pts with pride.. Take Utah last nite..they got drilled by 15 pts last nite but it was a good game. They played hard and even made a run in the 3Q until LA pulled away again for the last time. That Hawks team i would tear it down if I was in charge.

As far Dwight Howard.. yes he is a beast of a human, but I would have decked his ass and after game 1 Vince Carter would not have been effective. VC, needs to be decked then he is done. I would have fouled people so hard they would have flinched the next time they shot the ball. I would have fouled out of every game. Orlando Majic might have whupped my ass on the scoreboard also, but they would have respected me when I got done with them
