Why are the Cleveland Cleveland the favorites to win the NBA title?
Yes they have the best record like they did last year. I'm not sure if they were the favorites to win the NBA title before the playoffs started or the Lakers but it was pretty close i recall.

From looking at some of the online books, i see the Cavs are the favorites to win the title. Last year a lot of people say Cleveland will win as well. What I don't understand is why do you guys believe this. Sure they are the best team in the East and have an easy way to the NBA Finals. Only team that seems to be a threat to them in the East are the Magic and maybe Celtics/Heat.

It really doesn't look like the Lakers will win the title this year though they are the 2nd favorites to win the title. Dallas looks pretty good at the moment. However, San Antonio is very good team.

But overall, I cannot see why the Cavs are the favorites. I think they are one of the most overrated teams ever in the NBA. Great team in the regular season but won't win the title. I reallly don't get the hype about the Cavs. They never won a title before and the last time they got close ... they got swept by the Spurs 4-0. Also, I consider the Cavaliers to be the most boring playoff team to watch. Even the San Antonio Spurs are more fun to watch than the Cavs.

What kind of dumb retarded rant is this? They have the best basketball player on there team and they have other all stars to go along with the best record in the nba and your questioning why they're favorites?

Yes i watch the nba. I watched the Cavs last year and this year. Were you the same guys who thought they were going to win the title last year?

This team is good in regular season but will not win no title ever. I just don't understand how a team that does so good in the regular season gets so much love like the Cavs. This team is more overrated than the Mavs back in 2007. Won a bunch load of regular season games but will choke in the playoffs.

Are you aware of the fact that in just one calender year Danny Ferry has switched out guys that are named- Ben Wallace, Wally Szerbiak, Sash Palvovich and Joe Smith for the likes of Shaq, Antawn Jamison, Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon??? Not too mention they have a much improved soph in J.J Hickson.

Wake up dude! This is a way different team with a intense mindset heading into this!

Yes i know they got Shaq and Jamison. You telling me Shaq is going to make a difference? Also, I don't understand why so many people got so WOW when they got Jamison from the Wizards. Yes he's a good player but someone like him isn't going to help the Cavs win a title. Look at him with Butler and Arenas in DC and look what they did. Absoultely nothing.

This Cavs team will flop once again. If they do make it to the finals, the team from the West will take them down with ease. I even take the Spurs to take down the Cavs if they played in the finals this year.

Yes lebron is the best player in the league. So what. One player does not make a team. They have been in the playoffs every year in the last few years but always choked. This year is like the same as last year. Great record especially home record but once its playoff time, they will lose. Only way they win is if the refs help out the Cavaliers.

Shaq won't matter? He's the key addition to the Cavs to get past Orlando. Jamison also sures up their weakness of guarding stretch 4's like Lewis.

You do realize that both Cleveland and Orlando are better than every team in the West, right?

I have no problem with people who argue, but it should at least be intelligent. Whether you love Cleveland or hate them, there are very few people who wouldn't say they are the favorites this year.

Did you see what Shaq did for the Heat? Nothing really much. Wade did everything. Look at what he did in Phoenix. Are you serious Shaq is the key addition? Big Z is the better center of the two. Jamison is nothing special. He is just an above average player like Shawn Marion. Nothing special about him. Even Caron Butler is better than Jamison.

Cleveland and Orlando better than all the teams in the West? Weak Eastern Conference as it was before. The Utah Jazz are better tahn both the Cavs and the Magic once playoffs come.

Are you drunk? First off, sure, Wade was more important than Shaq. You don't think Shaq helped at all? Shaq's purpose on Cleveland is not scoring, they have plenty of that. His job is to guard Dwight Howard 1-on-1 without help so Cleveland doesn't get killed on rotations. If you watched the regular season matchups this year you would know that he did a hell of a job.

Z is not the better center, yet he does provide a very different look coming off the bench that the Magic really struggle to guard. Not many big guys want to guard 20-foot jumpers.

Jamison does many little things that tend to go unnoticed. He has the ability to spread the floor and knock down 3s and can also slip to the rim for assists from Lebron.

The West as a whole is far tougher than the East, but Cleveland and Orlando are better than every single western team. Both of these have incredible depth and are without any major injury problems (unlike almost every western conference team).

Also, the Cavs have Lebron, which will be the deciding factor in any close games.

I am not a Cavs fan or anything, but the situation is really not comparable to last year.

                                        1. Cleveland has added Shaq and Jamison, two veterans with playoff experience, something the team clearly lacked last season.

                                        2. Lebron is even more determined.

                                        3. Orlando have lost a bit of their edge and matchup advantage against Cleveland after trading Hedo for Carter. They are also no longer a dark horse, they're the defending EC champs. This time the Cavs will not be caught off-guard.

                                        4. Cleveland is 2-0 against LA this season. Last season they were 0-2.

For the above reasons, Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites to win the NBA title.

They should be favorites to win because they have best record. I don't see a problem here. They won many big games...

the biggest threat to the cavs are the magic, they have a better team than the cavs
if the cavs make it to the finals, they shud beat any team from the west
wats with people tossing the word "choke" around so often?
lebron didnt choke against the magic, he lost to a clearly superior team

This is one of those threads that will be reopened if Cleveland are upset. I'd really like to see it reopened and the same people who doubted Cleveland to come back on to explain why Cleveland 'somehow' just dominated every single team to make the finals.

Look at the Cavs. Shaq and Jamison? Jamison is nothing more than a role player. I would say he is someone like Rashard Lewis from the Magic that does good for the team but is nothing much.

Look at the rest of their team. Moon and Anthony parker? This team is just Lebron James with scrubs.

I am shocked people are actually surprised by this. The Cavs have a very good regular season record but once the playoffs come, teams don't fool around anymore

They remind of a baseball team. The St. Louis Cardinals. Very good team in the regular season in terms of wins but just does not go far.
