    Lebron is staying in Cleveland
Obviously it's not official yet, but Lebron did file paperwork this week to officially change his number to 6 next year. If he were leaving Cleveland he would have no reason to do this.

He has no choice. It wouldnt be nice for him to bolt from the hometown. Im glad he is staying there- worst thing would be to go to New York.

How does this have any impact on his decision to stay though?

To be honest, it doesn't, but if he knew he was leaving he wouldn't have to file the paperwork to change numbers as you are allowed to change number automatically any time you change teams.

Just seems irrelevant to me. I mean I'm pretty positive he's gonna stay put, but even if he was 85 percent sure he was leaving, it'd obviously make sense to file this so he doesn't get screwed over and stuck with 23 if he does decide to stay...

stay put? if he ain't hoisting the trophy over his head this year, he's gone. He'll be able to pick who he plays for, and how many superstars have expressed interest in playing with LBJ? many

If you knew anything about his family/friends/career you'd realize there's about 90% or better chance he stays in Cleveland. He's always been an incredibly loyal guy. Hell, he went to a primarily white high school because his friend said he was going and Lebron wanted to stay with him. He recently built a HUGE home just outside of Cleveland as well.

First of all, Lebron has never made decisions based purely on money. Last I checked he had turned down close to 20 endorsement deals.

Second, if it is about the money, Cleveland can offer him a contract that is roughly $20-30 million more than any other team is allowed to offer.

One of his life goals is to be a billionaire, sounds like money matters to him.
Lebron loves the spotlight and his goofy antics will be eaten up by a large market (dare I say, New York) media

His decision won't be based solely on money. But do the Knicks have any serious ambition?

You aren't getting it, NY can't offer him more than the Cavs can. The NBA has a salary cap. There is also a rule that allows a team to resign their players to a contract one year longer than other teams are able to. Strictly speaking basketball money, Lebron will make more in Cleveland than anywhere else.

One of his life goals is to be a billionaire, sounds like money matters to him.
Of course money matters, but that quote was taken in a different context. He was talking about his business ventures outside of the NBA. By the way, having Dan Gilbert as his owner is mighty attractive to a guy who thinks of himself as a businessman. Gilbert invited Lebron to a summit that guys like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet were attending recently and it had a huge impact on Lebron.

How many times have you seen LBJ sport a Cleveland indians cap? How many times has he rocked the classic NY navy blue cap?

speaking of loyalty, his buds CC sabathia and Jay-Z (though i think nets still unlikely) are waiting for him in NY
maybe CC will give him advice to bolt from cleveland

Dont underestimate Donnie Walsh the guy is a brilliant basketball mind. What you see from the knicks right now has nothing to do with the next 3 years. This team will be a good team real soon. Isiah left a huge mess and it takes time to clean up messes. New York will be one of the best teams in the east within 3 years.
