#41fukk the system... i lost a couple of series b/c i could only buy 2 pts instead of 3. Me and my friend back tracked this back 7 seasons to see if buying only 2 pts would be profitable and it was (in most cases, it didn't make a difference). But combines with a REAL loss (as in, Houston actually lost a series, each gm even if you bought 3 pts) and two losses coming from only buying 2 pts (as in, if you bought 3 you would win) its simply not profitable on a lot of books. Chasing is almost never a good idea, and this system combined with reputable book adjustments will not be profitable in the long termComment -

#44There were some people who were stating in this thread that my first play, Charlotte, was a no play series because they didn't have a home game before their out of conference series started. This is why i started this thread and this is why most people that think they follow the system correctly in fact, DO NOT. This is a quote from the JM NBA ORIGINAL System as to why Charlotte was a play and will be a (B) bet in their next game.
"Now, an exception would be that if a team has been playing road game(s) within their own conference before they start 3 consecutive games vs. 3 opponents from the opposing conference, then you should only treat the 3-game series vs. the opposing conference as eligible for play ONLY if that team has lost ALL of its road games from the beginning of the road trip by more than 3 points against the spread."
Charlotte played on the road against a team in their same conference and they lost by more than 3 points. Then they immediately started their 3 game out of conference series. They qualify as a series play if you read and understand the rules! Thats why i started this thread for those that want to get the correct plays without having to fist threw a bunch of B.S. and arguing in the other JM thread. BOLComment -

The quote you quoted says that a play is only eligible if the team lost its road games from the beginning of the road trip by MORE THAN 3 POINTS AGAINST THE SPREAD.
Charlotte went into Milwaukee as 3 point dogs and ended up losing by 5, thus covering the JM play.Comment -

#48Congratulations on the wins! I wish i had of followed you. I am relatively new to the JM system and still in the learning phase. I was hoping to find a thread here without all of the dissenting and confusing info. I appreciate your attempt at doing such. I will keep an eye out here and hopefully be able to pick up the plays as they come up.
Thanks!!
3 "A" bet winners tonight. I don't really care about some of these comments from some of you who complain about how this system does not work. Believe me it does work if you play it right and thats the reason i am posting. Most don't play the system correctly and then they complain if their is a loss. To many people change the system to which ever way they want and thats the problem..BOL POSTED RECORD: (A)Bet: 3-1 (B)Bet: 0-0 (C)Bet: 0-0 Overall Chase: 3-0Comment -

#49Snapstick, thanks for setting up this thread, the previous thread became far too confusing for a new JM v1 player.
I want to play this straight, v1 only, and look forward to the information I can receive here.
A few questions, if you don't mind:
* I use BetUs, can you buy 3 points at other sportsbooks? If the initial is -140; buying 3 points can get expensive on Betus, so you see the reason for my question.
* JM modified v1 a couple of weeks back, if the pick is -3 or better, play the ML, versus buying the 3 points. Do you play it this way?
* When do you usually place your wagers for the JM system, earlier the better?
I purchased the v1 system for its simplicity, and I want to play it the way it is designed, as I believe you can make a few bucks with this system.
Glad to see you sharing your thoughts and ideas without any variations and I look forward to your MLB thread when that season starts, as it will be my first.

#57Good Luck slapstick,
I played v1 NBA and MLB for years and made some decent profit.
But I took a few losses this year with Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons, and the lines have gotten ridiculous because this system is so public. Haven't played much of JM since the losses.
My new strategy is not to play every series but just maximize on the good teams.
Even if that means one or two plays every month, I will wait to play with the good teams i.e. Lakers, Magic, Spurs, Hawks, etc.
With these marginal teams such as Detroit and Philly I will wait for a B bet to occur.
Good Luck man
For baseball I am taking $5000 and going all in. Meaning each series I am planning on betting the entire bankroll, allowing for enough to cover the C bet if needed. So basically I will be betting like 15% bankroll on each series (may not be able to play them all if some overlap) play and adjusting as needed. If I lose I lose, if not and we go undefeated I'll be rolling. It is a gamble.Comment -

#58Exactly what I do. I also play good teams WITHOUT buying points. If you find the right spots they win too (i.e. winning teams vs losing teams). The Detroit series I did not play, they had too many injuries to important players that series. You must pay attention to the plays and not just bet them cause the sheet says to. The Houston series I lost, they were actually a decent ATS team but note the series crossed through Christmas. Make sure you pay attention to schedule too, very important. I also feel that MLB will be better because you are playing money lines and the new RPI filter went undefeated last year.
I have the same thoughts about the Houston series, probably the reason it lost is because it was over the Christmas holiday, keep that in mind for next year.
Still some good NBA plays coming up in March.
BTW I like the line for Charlotte tonight, and will probably play them small time and dare a C bet to happen.Comment -

#61could someone explain how the char./mil. scenario correlates(or not), w/ the jm explanation below?
Handling road trips that start in-conference
I recommend that you only start betting on a series if the team’s consecutive 3-game road trip begins immediately after their home game. This also means that if a team is on a 6-game road trip vs. 6 opponents from the opposing conference, then you should only wager on the first 3 games (assuming that they played a home game immediately before starting the road trip).
Now, an exception would be that if a team has been playing road game(s) within their own conference before they start 3 consecutive games vs. 3 opponents from the opposing conference, then you should only treat the 3-game series vs. the opposing conference as eligible for play ONLY if that team has lost ALL of its road games from the beginning of the road trip by more than 3 points against the spread.
To give you an example, here were the Cleveland Cavaliers’ opponents between November 7th to November 14th during the 2008-09 NBA season:
Date
12/21/08
Opponent
@ Oklahoma City
Result
W 102-91
Spread
L -13
12/19/08
@ Denver
W 105-88
W 2
12/17/08
@ Minnesota
W 93-70
W -10
12/13/08
@ Atlanta
L 92-97
L -4
12/12/08
Philadelphia
W 88-72
W -10.5
As you can see, Cleveland played Atlanta (a team from its own conference) before starting a 3-game road trip against 3 consecutive opponents from the opposing
conference (Minnesota, Denver, and Oklahoma City). This means that the 3-game series starting with Minnesota would ONLY be eligible for play IF Cleveland loses to Atlanta against the spread by more than 3 points. The spread for Cleveland in their game vs. Atlanta was -4, and with 3 points added that would make it -1. Since they lost the game to Atlanta by a margin of 5 points (92-97), this means that they did indeed lost against the spread by more than 3 points (as a matter of fact, they lost to the spread by a margin of 6 points: (-1 spread + a -5 points margin loss!)), making the 3-game series they began with Minnesota eligible for play under the systemComment -

#64Blah, Blah, Blah
JM came out with this filter within the past couple of months.
I think slapstick is just going by the v1 system that was originally designed years ago, without all these filters and restrictions.
I can see JM's point about not playing Charlotte because they already covered (with a three point buy) on this road trip, but what I think is more important to consider (Just my opinion) is that Charlotte has not won a game yet on this trip and still have a ton of motivation.
ORIGINAL or OLD V1 system =
- Play any team who is playing 3 consecutive road games against opposing conference. (regardless of when those 3 games may be)
- Do not bet on the teams with the best or the worst road record.
- Do not bet on a team who is missing their best player
- Three point buy and three game chase
Play as you wishComment -

#67are the 2 filters below part of the OLD sys. that you're using?
Also, check up on the injuries before making a bet. If your team has a key injury (15 points and up player), then you should just pass on that series, regardless of any injuries there may be on the other team.
One other thing to note is if your team is playing 6 games on the road vs all opponents of the different conference, then you can split that up into two different series, one beginning with the first game and one beginning with the 4th game.Comment -
