#37Has not shown an ability to obtain a top tier talent to go along with LeBron. Larry Hughes was garbage. Fell into the Shaq trap, just like Kerr. Now is making hurried decision to trade Hickson(young talent) & Z( glue guy, and LeBrons fav teammate). For Amare, who only adds offense, lacks any defensive intensity, and was unquestionably happy to see Shaq leave Phoenix. With the money Amare will command, they could wait until the offseason and sign a Free Agent. Think about it.. if Cavs ownership is willing to live in the luxury tax, they could lure another big name who would most certainly be interested in playing with LeBron. LeBron seems like he is everyones friend, and elite players want to play with him You can not simply release players in the NBA. All contracts are guaranteed, so you can only waive players. But you are still entitled to pay the player the sum of his contract, with that contract counting against you cap. The Suns would payout his contract, and he would be able to sign with the Cavs in 30 days.
Ferry has made a number of great moves since. First, he was able to unload Hughes along with Drew Gooden to get Delonte, Joe Smith, Wally Szczerbiak, and Ben Wallace, all of whom played significant roles for the Cavs and Delonte is still an integral piece. Next, his trade for Mo Williams was brilliant and helped propel them to a 66-win season.
Finally, Ferry offseason moves this year were very well done. He picked up Shaq for nothing (so I'm not sure how this is a failure), plus Shaq has been playing great lately. He also got Jamario Moon, Anthony Parker, and Leon Powe, all for very cheap prices. He's done quite a nice job with this Cavs team so far I think.
They can't sign it into writing but they can discuss it. It is currently a loophole in the NBA's CBA.Comment -

Amar'e shoots over 45% on long 2-point shots over the last 4 seasons. This is what the Cavs need. Surprisingly, this is a higher percentage than Jamison.Comment -

#39The Larry Hughes signing was perhaps Ferry's only real blunder as GM. At the time Hughes was coming off a great year and was one of the top free agents on the market, just turns out his game went to hell afterwards.

#41It is illegal to make that agreement under the table. Obviously, they can't sign anything. If they are caught even discussing it, they're fuked. Loophole or whatever, the loophole is having the option to sign the player after that 30 days, that's the loophole. As far as discussing it or pulling it off or insinuating it or winking at each other too many times, whatever, all of that is so illegal. all i know is if they get caught pulling off that deal the Cavs won't have a first round draft pick untils the 20's
what do suns have to gain by getting him through? it makes the trade eligible im guessing, but how?Comment -

As good as Bron Bron is....it takes a team to win....Last year, the Cavs had the best team in basketball...but lost...shit happens. For those that call bs on this...then why were the Cavs 6-1 favorites to beat the Magic?
Hopefully this year, Mo and DeLonte will keep their A games throughout the playoffs.Comment -

The Suns could then buy-out Z for less than he is owed and save additional money. Right now the Suns are over the luxury tax, which means they have to pay additional money. Doing this trade gets them under the luxury tax, which is a multi-million dollar difference. First it saves them $3M in salary, then $3M in luxury tax, and each team under the luxury tax gets about $4M (all of the teams over pay luxury tax and the teams under split it). That's $10M just from making the trade, not to mention if they were to re-sign Stoudemire for what he wants vs. what JJ Hickson makes next year.
Right now the Cavs look to be leading the race, but Riley is trying to stop this trade by giving Phoenix a better deal by getting a third team involved. I don't see that happening, though. Three team trades are quite tricky and would require some outside team to probably take on Jason Richardson's contract. Again, I don't see that happening, as I don't think Richardson makes any team that isn't a contender a contender, nor do I think he helps any contender much.Comment -

By doing so, the Suns management can improve their profit margin, or go after another free agent at the end of the year.Comment -

#47Have you really watched JJ try to play defense? Yes, his block on Howard was huge, and yes, he is capable of freakish athletic plays like that, but he can't stop anyone one on one. Not to mention he messes up his rotations all the time. The Cavs do a great job at covering for him, but it's no wonder that rank 15th defensively in the 1st quarter (the quarter JJ plays the most). Amar'e has some shortcomings on defense, but I think being on a defense first team and being surrounded by great defenders for the first time in his life will help him.
