Dennis Rodman Being Left Off Hall Of Fame Ballot Is A Joke
I hate that voters of Hall of Fames let their emotions get in the way of voting for a candidate. All that matter is what a person did on the court or field and not off the court behavior. Rodman should be in the HOF yet he wasnt even on the ballot. Who cares if he rubbed some the wrong way, you vote on what a player did on the court and nothing else.

I don't know enough about Rodman's career stats and whether or not they were good enough to make him HOF worthy but if they left him off the ballot because of his off court character I think it's bullsh*t

He led the league in rebounding 7 straight years, 1st or 2nd team all-defense 8 years in a row, Defensive Player of the Year 2 times and an integral part of 5 championship teams.

Rodman is definitely a Hall of Fame worthy candidate. This is a travesty.

Let's not pretend this is that HUGE a travesty. Sure, I would've put him on the ballot. His rebounding was legendary, his defense superb. But offensively, he gave you nothing. Zero. So while it's a snub, let's not get too carried away. Mark Jackson, 3rd ALLTIME in assists, was also passed by.

I like Mark Jackson and wouldnt mind him getting in, but his assist total is purely based on longevity, he played 18 years. He made the All Star team once, he never even made 3rd team All-NBA, he was never great, again Id have no problem is he got in either, but Rodman is a whole other story.

I agree with your point about Jackson. He's not all that special either. He probably doesn't deserve to be in the hall in my opinion because the HOF recognizes the best of the best, but being left off the ballot was a little surprising. The man is 3rd all-time in a major statistical category; it shouldn't matter THAT much how he got there.

As for Rodman and the HOF for a game where the ultimate purpose is putting the ball in the basket, let's just say I understand where the voters are coming from when they decide that someone who averaged 7 points a game (and 6 in the playoffs) doesn't make the cut.

Actually he won the rebounding title 7 straight years, and was one of the greatest rebounders of all time.

After making this thread I went to see who was all in the NBA Hall of Fame, and surprisingly there arnt that many players in the NBA Hall of Fame really. With the names on the list Im not sure now if Rodman stacks up to those guys. He probably shouldnt be in after all.

Rodman made good teams better, but he would probably make a bad team worse. I'd immediately call the police if I saw him anywhere near HOF.
