TheChancellor's 2-team, 5 point teasers. Time to share.
Alright guys. I've made a thread like this before, but wasn't very consistent in updating because I was doing a lot of last minute betting with lots of research prior to, so no time to post. And there wasn't any structure to betting, just random bets and parlays.

I've began a new betting strategy and plan on sticking to it, and will bet no other way from now on.

I'm sticking strictly to NBA and CBB, and two team, 5 point teasers. No more, and (obviously) no less. Around 3 units each.

Before, what I was doing was researching trends and previous matchups pertaining to the teams I was betting on, then placing the bet based on the research.

    No more.

The only thing I research now are significant injuries, and then place my bets strictly on impulse since I have a decent knowledge of the game. (CBB is a little different, don't know as much)

The results so far has been fantastic. I've had the mind to post on here since the beginning of the week but didn't want to jinx myself. With that said, I'll start posting picks, but beware, I'm on a hot streak and am bound to come down to earth eventually, so tail at risk.

    ======================================== ======================

Important rules (as a reminder for me)

    - Take caution in betting against D-Wade, Kobe, and LeBron as dogs. They are the only three players I've seen single handedly take over a game numerous times this year. Could seriously screw you over.

    - Bet on Orlando with caution. Should have a better record considering the talent.

    - Do not underestimate Portland at home.

    - ALWAYS bet against the Nets. Teaser bets are gold.

    - Pay special attention to dogs playing teams who are in the second of their back to back games. Try to stay away from the favorites.

    - NEVER bet on a game that Toronto is playing in. EVER.

If anyone wants to add to this (keeping in mind, we want them to mainly pertain to teaser bets), feel free.

    ======================================== ======================

And now, finally. The bets for today. I'm going to consider adding more to this as the day goes on.

Jan. 22 Today, simply because I'm posting, and I'm fearful of jinxing myself, I'm putting only 1 unit on these instead of the 3 I would normally put on it. Tail at risk.

    Bet #1 LOSS

Chicago Bulls @ Phoenix Suns (-1)

Phoenix boasting a 16-4 record at home, while Chicago almost has the opposite at 4-15.
New Jersey Nets @ Golden State Warriors (-2.5)

This line is going to skyrocket by the evening. Regardless, I'd still snatch this even at -5. With the return of Biedrins, people can start playing their natural positions while finally having an inside presence; something they've lacked all year.

    Bet #2 LOSS

    Dallas Mavericks (+2.5) @ Philadelphia 76ers

Not too sure about this one, but I went with my gut. Philly is horrible this year and while I think they'll lose outright, it's nice to get a 2 point cushion in case the game gets close. Just saw that Dallas has won three straight and seven of the last eight against Philly.

Portland Trail Blazers @ Boston Celtics (-4.5)

Nice value here. Brandon Roy is out, Kevin Garnett is making his return, and Boston's at home. Dare I call a "Lock?" lol

    Bet #3 LOSS

Took another bet wth Celts -4.5 and Warriors -2.5 for reasons explained above.

    Bet #4 LOSS

Charlotte Bobcats (+12) @ Atlanta Hawks for Game

The Bobcats are rolling, and are due for a letdown. Especially where they're so bad on the road. However, considering the Bobcats' defensive prowess, and the fact that they beat Atlanta by 20 this year back in Charlotte (without Jackson) makes me think they'll keep this game close. I can't see them losing by more than 8.

Houston Rockets (+11.5) @ San Antonio Spurs

Rolling the dice here. The Rockets struggle on the road against teams with winning records, but considering that the Spurs prefer running set plays a lot, I see this being a low scoring game, giving the Rockets a better chance to keep up. Spurs win, but not by more than 11.

    Bet #5 LOSS

Miami Heat @ Washington Wizards (+7)

This goes against my rules posted earlier, but I like the defensive matchup here. Randy Foye has done a fantastic job filling Arenas' shoes. There are more shots to go around and I find that the Wizards are now more effective as a team. Caron has been stepping it up lately and I LOVE Antawn Jamison torching Beasley (Dude cannot play defense AT ALL) for 30+ today.

Los Angeles Lakers (+1) @ New York Knicks

Kobe Bryant + Madison Square Garden = Win

I think we're getting some line value because the Lakers haven't been performing that well, but they were without Pau Gasol for a few games. Kobe is the best player on the team, yes... But Pau, in my opinion, is the most important player on the team. Now that he's back, I see the Lakers rolling over these guys considering the talent levels.

    Bet #6 WIN

Sacramento Kings @ Orlando Magic (-4.5)

Sacramento is tough, but they're young. I hate betting on the magic, and rarely do I EVER bet on them, especially lately. But I like the idea of a young Kings team matching up against a bunch of veterans who are at home. The Kings don't have a single bruiser who can bang in the paint with Dwight, and Rashard is going to create some serious matchup problems.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Memphis Grizzlies (+2)

This should be a nice matchup. OKC is nice but when you're up against two bigs who can score in the paint (Gasol and Randolph) and are relying on the likes of Nenad Krstic and Jeff Green (Collison is out) to hold them off, you gotta wonder... Grizzlies are just more talented here and I like the fact that we're getting 2 points at home.

And that's it!! Wish me luck boys. I fear my run may be coming to an end, but I'm gonna roll the dice anyway.

Just a quick attachment I loaded up to show you guys this week's run. I don't want people thinking I'm pulling a Lang and putting myself on a pedestal when I'm actually doing horrible.

Those are his teaser - you knock off a few points (5 in this case) and bet with reduced odds.

On another note, I like those plays for tonight, good luck.

Yes but you will need to select more than 2 teams for the teaser to work.

Not entirely true. Maybe for the book you're using. I'm on Pinnacle and it allows me to choose anywhere from 2-6 teams for 5 point teasers in both NBA and CBB.

Kingsbury, your book may or may not provide that option. I wouldn't know.

I wanted to jump on that, but I never bet on games with the Raptors. They'll either lose horribly or blow the bucks out by 20. They're so random.

Last time they played, bosh scored 44 and the raps lost by 2. Granted, the bucks were at home but this game, at +7.5 and teased at + 12.5, may be the lock of the day. Check LakerBoys threads.

Actually, the Raps lost by 6, which adds to your claim. I'm not saying taking the Bucks would be a bad bet, I just simply don't trust them. They're one of the worst teams in the league shooting from the field and against a high octane offense like Toronto, there's a possibility of a blowout. The scary thing about the Raps losing by 6 is that they had horrible performances from their other key scorers, and were on the road. They might turn it around tonight.

Exactly, Toronto winning or losing depends on how their role players perform. Bosh will always put up monster numbers, but if the other guys don't step up then it's

And there we have it. Exactly why I put down 1 unit instead of my normal 3 on each of these. As I said earlier, I knew it was gonna be a bad day as soon as I put these on the forums, lol. Take note of the "tail at risk" warning, haha. So I'll take that on the chin. Some REALLY tough losses on Boston and Charlotte. Both Boston and Charlotte missed the spread by 4 points between them. That would have been the difference between a win and a loss. And the crappy thing about it all is that all of the bets had at least 1 winning team. Had I coupled them differently, would have been a different situation. All in all, I'm not upset. Gonna post again today guys. Back to 3 units on the next series of bets, so stay tuned.

                                      - Bucks are 5-17 on the road
                                      - Kidd is back for Dallas after missing last game's blowout victory
                                      - Nobody to matchup with Dirk.

Warriors @ Kings: Warriors for +12

                                      - Kings are soft in the paint. Liking Biedrins this game.
                                      - Warriors will try to outscore the Kings. Talent levels are similar.
                                      - Of the Warriors 29 losses, only 9 have been decided by more than 12 points, most of which were against winning teams.

Well... That brings me back down to 3 units. With the exception of the first series of bets, my picks have been solid but the games are just to darn close. Part of me if thinking of including 7 point teasers now. In any case, my records right now is 6-8-2 with a 3 unit gain. Such bad luck lately.

                                          Some huge risks for tonight.

I took a ML parlay instead of a teaser, but the lines given from teasing would have been pretty much the same as the parlay in this case.

                                          Bet #1

Lakers @ Pacers: Lakers to win

                                          - The Pacers interior defense will be no match for Gasol and Bynum
                                          - Lakers have the best player on the floor

Clippers @ Nets: Clippers to win

                                          - Nets are without starters Devin Harris and Courtney Lee
                                          - Eric Gordon (17 ppg) returns for the Clippers tonight

I'm putting 10 units on this parlay to win 9. A lot to risk on any bet, I know, but I just couldn't resist.

                                          Bet #2 (Teaser, 3 units)

Clippers @ Nets: Clippers for -1.5

Hawks @ Spurs: Hawks for +8.5

                                          - I see this being a close game given the talent levels.
                                          - Spurs have been struggling, especially at home
                                          - Hawks are much more athletic.

                                          Bet #3

I have another 5 units on the Clippers for -7 tonight. Predicting a blowout given the Nets injuries.
