Alright guys. I've made a thread like this before, but wasn't very consistent in updating because I was doing a lot of last minute betting with lots of research prior to, so no time to post. And there wasn't any structure to betting, just random bets and parlays.
I've began a new betting strategy and plan on sticking to it, and will bet no other way from now on.
I'm sticking strictly to NBA and CBB, and two team, 5 point teasers. No more, and (obviously) no less. Around 3 units each.
Before, what I was doing was researching trends and previous matchups pertaining to the teams I was betting on, then placing the bet based on the research.
No more.
The only thing I research now are significant injuries, and then place my bets strictly on impulse since I have a decent knowledge of the game. (CBB is a little different, don't know as much)
The results so far has been fantastic. I've had the mind to post on here since the beginning of the week but didn't want to jinx myself. With that said, I'll start posting picks, but beware, I'm on a hot streak and am bound to come down to earth eventually, so tail at risk.
======================================== ======================
Important rules (as a reminder for me)
- Take caution in betting against D-Wade, Kobe, and LeBron as dogs. They are the only three players I've seen single handedly take over a game numerous times this year. Could seriously screw you over.
- Bet on Orlando with caution. Should have a better record considering the talent.
- Do not underestimate Portland at home.
- ALWAYS bet against the Nets. Teaser bets are gold.
- Pay special attention to dogs playing teams who are in the second of their back to back games. Try to stay away from the favorites.
- NEVER bet on a game that Toronto is playing in. EVER.
If anyone wants to add to this (keeping in mind, we want them to mainly pertain to teaser bets), feel free.

And now, finally. The bets for today. I'm going to consider adding more to this as the day goes on.
Jan. 22 Today, simply because I'm posting, and I'm fearful of jinxing myself, I'm putting only 1 unit on these instead of the 3 I would normally put on it. Tail at risk.
Bet #1 LOSS
Chicago Bulls @ Phoenix Suns (-1)
Phoenix boasting a 16-4 record at home, while Chicago almost has the opposite at 4-15.
New Jersey Nets @ Golden State Warriors (-2.5)
This line is going to skyrocket by the evening. Regardless, I'd still snatch this even at -5. With the return of Biedrins, people can start playing their natural positions while finally having an inside presence; something they've lacked all year.
Bet #2 LOSS
Dallas Mavericks (+2.5) @ Philadelphia 76ers
Not too sure about this one, but I went with my gut. Philly is horrible this year and while I think they'll lose outright, it's nice to get a 2 point cushion in case the game gets close. Just saw that Dallas has won three straight and seven of the last eight against Philly.
Portland Trail Blazers @ Boston Celtics (-4.5)
Nice value here. Brandon Roy is out, Kevin Garnett is making his return, and Boston's at home. Dare I call a "Lock?" lol
Bet #3 LOSS
Took another bet wth Celts -4.5 and Warriors -2.5 for reasons explained above.
Bet #4 LOSS
Charlotte Bobcats (+12) @ Atlanta Hawks for Game
The Bobcats are rolling, and are due for a letdown. Especially where they're so bad on the road. However, considering the Bobcats' defensive prowess, and the fact that they beat Atlanta by 20 this year back in Charlotte (without Jackson) makes me think they'll keep this game close. I can't see them losing by more than 8.
Houston Rockets (+11.5) @ San Antonio Spurs
Rolling the dice here. The Rockets struggle on the road against teams with winning records, but considering that the Spurs prefer running set plays a lot, I see this being a low scoring game, giving the Rockets a better chance to keep up. Spurs win, but not by more than 11.
Bet #5 LOSS
Miami Heat @ Washington Wizards (+7)
This goes against my rules posted earlier, but I like the defensive matchup here. Randy Foye has done a fantastic job filling Arenas' shoes. There are more shots to go around and I find that the Wizards are now more effective as a team. Caron has been stepping it up lately and I LOVE Antawn Jamison torching Beasley (Dude cannot play defense AT ALL) for 30+ today.
Los Angeles Lakers (+1) @ New York Knicks
Kobe Bryant + Madison Square Garden = Win
I think we're getting some line value because the Lakers haven't been performing that well, but they were without Pau Gasol for a few games. Kobe is the best player on the team, yes... But Pau, in my opinion, is the most important player on the team. Now that he's back, I see the Lakers rolling over these guys considering the talent levels.
Bet #6 WIN
Sacramento Kings @ Orlando Magic (-4.5)
Sacramento is tough, but they're young. I hate betting on the magic, and rarely do I EVER bet on them, especially lately. But I like the idea of a young Kings team matching up against a bunch of veterans who are at home. The Kings don't have a single bruiser who can bang in the paint with Dwight, and Rashard is going to create some serious matchup problems.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Memphis Grizzlies (+2)
This should be a nice matchup. OKC is nice but when you're up against two bigs who can score in the paint (Gasol and Randolph) and are relying on the likes of Nenad Krstic and Jeff Green (Collison is out) to hold them off, you gotta wonder... Grizzlies are just more talented here and I like the fact that we're getting 2 points at home.
And that's it!! Wish me luck boys. I fear my run may be coming to an end, but I'm gonna roll the dice anyway.
