i gotta say lebron is better. kobe would not get the cavs to be an elite team as lebron is doing. reason being is because lebron is just way better physically. wat i mean is that it takes less effort for lebron to score, pass, dribble, drive etc. hes just bigger, and faster than most players. kobe really isnt all that bigger or faster than the people guarding him, so hes gotta make so many more tough shots, drives, passes etc.

I hate both of them. But LeBron is a better player than Kobe in my opinion. One aspect of the game Kobe wins is his shooting ability.

" ask Rick Adelman and the 2002 Kings "

Laker, what a cheap shot there, best line of this thread

Both guys are fantastic players and they actually played very well together for team usa. I used to a big-time lebron hater, I think he has come a long way. Still, every once and awhile I see him shifting blame on the court whether it be whining about calls he shouldn't get or directing at teammates (Peyton Manning used to do the same thing). That was Jordan's competitive edge, he took everything that came at him in stride, he would be bullshit at teammates but it was honest and his teammates took him seriously and were motivated as a result. LeBron used to be MUCH MUCH worse with this in my opinion. Celtics were still the toughest team in the league last year, unfortunately injuries prevented them from continuing ( yes, I am a celtics fan but moreso a basketball fan. Lebron played very well in the playoffs last year however Orlando really had the matchups on them last season with Turkoglu and Lewis on the perimeter. Despite injuries Boston almost caught them. Ariza and Odom were the difference makers for Los Angeles in the finals as they had the size and athleticism to check Turk and RaLew. People finally starting to realize how good Gasol really is, that guy has been a force with the Spanish National team for years, his skills for a big man are incredible and he has a great understanding for the game. With that said, I still think Kobe is a bit of a knucklehead (that stupid face he was making last year? The incident with the girl?). He still seems uncomfortable with himself to me. The way acts seems like it is all pre-meditated if you ask me - From a skill standpoint he's right there with MJ, mentally, no shot, never will be. He has enough good players around him at this stage where it is pretty easy to hide, they still lose some STUPID games? I think the Boston exploitation of Los Angeles showed us a lot more - Boston when at full strength was a much stronger squad then Orlando.

sorry bit of a rant there - not sure if it even makes sense and I said "if you ask" like 5 times, no one is asking me anything .... - I think they are both a bit juvenile, still.

I find the argument that Kobe is as professional as Lebron to be absurd. Not only was he accused of rape, but he has had many well publicized spits with teammates and coaches. I've never heard of a single player or coach having an issue with Lebron. Coach K called the Lebron the best leader he's ever coached and says he has a charisma about him that is unlike anything Coach K has ever seen in his career.

And FYI, I have plenty of money, I just know I don't need to gamble during the NBA season to get my entertainment. I've got an engagement ring and wedding to worry about soon as well as having to buy a place in NYC, so I need to be conservative with my money at this point.

I feel like all those guys are over-hyped at this point because they've been deemed Legends. I was watching reruns of all the best dunk contests the other day and they showed the '88 contest with Wilkins and Jordan. There wasn't a single dunk in that contest that would have earned anything over a 45 (well, maybe Jordan's FT-line dunk) today. I'd love to see Lebron in the dunk contest as his combination of power and jumping ability is unmatched, but it sounds like it won't happen this year. Even his high school dunk contest was fairly impressive.

The only time when this comment is remotely true is when Lebron is on a fastbreak and teams get away with wrap-tackling him to try to prevent the layup. Even then he sometimes scores, just ask Paul Pierce. I wish the NBA would bring back the intentional foul sometimes.

dont you think you've overhyped lebron to youself because he is the most legendary player ever for you?

dont get me wrong, he's won the genetic lottery big time when it comes to basketball skill sets, but he's not the best in everything. finishing with contact, passing (better than all the point guard greats? really?!?)

He's certainly the best at finishing with contact. I said he was one of the top passer's in the league currently. Sure, there are guys with more assists (I believe Lebron is 7th?), but some of the passes he makes with ease are incredibly impressive. He throws plenty of flashy no-looks, but my favorite are the bullet skip passes he throws straight to his shooters' hands. That's partially how you have 3 guys in the top 10 in 3-point shooting on the team.

If we are talking just dunking here. The best that ever lived IMO is Vince Carter. I've seen all the greats, but for my dollar he has the most gravity defying stlye points ever.

As far as game dunks in traffic I like Dwayne Wayne. He impresses me a little more than Lebron with that because it is more difficult for him because he is not 7'0 tall. He is a little guy with hops and power and is not afraid.

Don't get me wrong williams. I am not a a Lebron hater. It's just some of the other guys impress me more because what they have to do to pull it off. Basically, even if Lebron wasn't an amazing athlete he could still dunk just because of his size.

I pretty much agree with everything here. Vince Carter (as much as I hate him as a player) is easily the best dunker ever. Also, big guys never look as cool when dunking, just look at Dwight Howard. I'd love to see Vince Carter coach Lebron in a dunk contest. That could be scary good.

Oh yea definitely! Just talking dunking with Vince Carter. I haven't watched him play live in games as much as you probably, but from what I see he is overhyped player... Just a great athlete.. not basketball player. He is just a typical volume shooter. I mean he has his games every now and then, but he is not a show stopper like Lebron Or D.Wayde. When those two are hot they will take the game over. Never seen Vince take a game over, but his dunking is legendary

I guess that commercial with him on the browns is what he should really do. Kobe is a winner and leader he coached the lakers last year . There is no discussion neccessary here.

Kobe is the consummate professional, and his dedication to the game borders on pathological. Lebron is 6'9'' 270 with over a decade left in the NBA, and yet who was improving his post game with Hakeem in the offseason? With Lebron's physical attributes he should be ashamed of his post game. Lebron also never seems to know when he should be doing what. He'll launch 3 30-footers in a row because he thinks if he makes a couple he is a god. He has a ton to learn.

Lebron's production is greater than Kobe's. You don't need to be an expert to check box scores and see this. But if Kobe had the body of Lebron James, then Kobe would be so much better than Lebron that it is laughable. And it is for that reason that Kobe is the superior basketball player.
