    Cavs Blockbuster Trade Coming?
Brian Windhorst reported earlier today that although both Shaq and Delonte West participated in the morning shootaround today, they will not be playing this evening. He has since changed this report to say they are now likely to play, but this raises some questions.

The only logical reason that both Shaq and Delonte would be held out of a game is if a large trade is pending. That's $25 million worth of salary the Cavs could be moving. Could the Cavs be hoping to trade Shaq to a team that waives him to clear cap and allows the Cavs to resign him? Antawn Jamison or David West would both be very nice additions to a team that is already the best in the NBA

West would certainly be a great addition but I think I would prefer Jamison. Jamison is a better shooter and by all accounts is as professional as they come in the NBA. This Cavs team is already full of big personalities and scorers and we need someone who can fit in seemlessly, perhaps having to accept a smaller role than they are used to. David West is still too young to be content being a 2nd or 3rd scorer on a team, at least in my opinion.

So they are going to admit that signing Shaq was a mistake in the first place? I thought the Lakers had the best winning % in the league- never mind you told me you arent biased when it comes to the cavs- i mean your boys had the best record last year too- we know where they ended up. BTW David West is a more valuable player than Jamison and would bring more to the table coming from an organization that has better values and has done more winning he would be a good addition. The cavs have the best player in the league and are playing some very good ball now(January) and are still looking for more help. It tells me they know they arent the best team in the league and are trying to do something about it even there fans thing they are the best team.Hope they make a move they will have trouble getting out of the east again.

I'd rather we pick up David West than Jamison. Younger talent and plays a bit more defense than Jamison, not by much though. Both shoot well between 12-18 ft. from the basket. Just having a younger frontcourt player appeals more to me.

No, the Shaq signing wasn't a mistake. First of all, it was a trade, not a signing. They managed to get rid of two players (Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic) who contributed zero production. Basically, they got a starting center who will be able to cause Dwight Howard all kinds of trouble come a playoff rematch. Also, if you watch the Cavs play rather than judging by box scores, you will see that Shaq has been more and more involved on the offensive end lately and has been working well within the offense.

As for your Laker comment, yes the Cavs are the best team in the league, don't let the Lakers record fool you. The Lakers have played fewer road games than any team in the league right now. The Cavs have played more than 50% more road games than the Lakers thus far. Also, if you have watched the Lakers play recently you have seen how far from championship level they have been playing.

As far as the West versus Jamison debate goes, I still contend that Jamison is a better fit for the Cavs. He is a much better shooter than West and can spread defenses further than West can. Also, he is at the point in his career where winning a championship means far more than stats and money. I do not believe this can be said of West. One main reason the Cavs have been so good these past two years is team chemistry. I believe Jamison would gel with this team much easier than West.

Looking for a trade doesn't mean that the Cavs don't think they are the best in the league, it just shows the thirst of Danny Ferry to put this team in the best situation possible to ensure that Lebron will resign next year.

As of right now, no they will not have trouble getting out of the east. They have already shown that they can handle Atlanta and Orlando just fine and Boston is beaten up. Not to mention, Boston's bench isn't nearly as good as everyone thought it would be.

Finally, let's get back to Shaq here. If the Cavs are trading Shaq they are most likely doing so with an agreement in place that says the receiving team will waive him, allowing Cleveland to resign him after 30 days.

Nice points williams but the cavs had the best record in the league last year and going into the playoffs im pretty sure you didnt think you were going to lose to orlando-am i a correct? Also dont be fooled by the lakers they have been missing gasol for large chunks of the season and missing walton was bigger then people realize. All this and they still have the best record in the nba. Dont worry Lakers will win there road games. It all evens out.

The cavs should have signed Lebron by now if they want to excel. They shouldnt let him test the free agent market. Poor guy was so pissed last year in the conf finals like he didnt know they werent good enough and after 67 wins all i heard was cavs dont have anyone- please. The reg season means nothing for results like kobe said on the xmas game - it means nothing to us. We are the champs and will be again in June- you heard it here first.

No, I was scared to death of Orlando last year. NBA Playoff basketball is ENTIRELY about matchups. The Cavs matched up horribly against the Magic. First, they had no one who could body Howard. Second, guarding a stretch PF has always been a huge weakness for them. Finally, Turkoglu presents all sorts of matchup issues when running a pick and roll with a stretch 4 like Lewis. Luckily, the Magic lost their biggest mismatch-causer over the summer and the Cavs now have Shaq to body Howard.

They shouldn't let Lebron test the free agent market? Do you understand how his current contract was negotiated? Lebron current contract is for less than max money because he opted to only take a 3-year deal instead of 5. He did this to set himself up for a larger max contract come 2010 and to put pressure on the Cavs organization to put together a winning team. There was never any chance that Lebron would sign a new contract before this summer.

The Lakers, missing only Walton, got dominated by the Cavs on Christmas at home. Certainly I'll admit that it's only one game, but as a Laker fan I would be scared. The Lakers have performed very poorly against the top half of NBA teams so far this year.

Jamison has alot more dimensions than West, thats a no brainer. West is best when he has a table setter, that being Chris Paul, Jamison can make things happen with or without the ball, can rebound and score inside, not to mention his spreading the floor with his outside shooting. Jamison is a much better fit, can take pressure off of Lebron, is more athletic than West, runs the floor better, just a better all around player.
