    Formula thread
Came up with a semi complicated formula for NBA so i will keep track of the plays here.

Milwaukee +4.5 (a little late so it wont count in record)
    Oklahoma City -5.5 1 unit
    Memphis -5.5 1 unit
    Sacramento +1 1 unit
    Portland -6 2 units
    Boston -5 1 unit

    Indiana Pacers +5.5 1 unit

Here's a head's up, there is no formula for where human element is involved.

but when human element bases the formula...
anyway im thinking i can make a formula that constantly loses then i can fade it and get rich

what the teams have done in the past dictate what teams will do in the future.
and i just dont think line movements or other things do the same

There is no concrete method for picking a team to cover a spread. Anything can happen in a game, besides, those teams you picked, you never know who isnt even playing in the game since its many hours away. Anything can happen, a bench player could have a career night, a player could get injured, balls just dont fall certain ways, open shots just not falling, its more less a crap shoot than anything a formula would suggest that it isnt.

all those are excellent points i just think over a season a solid formula should be able to predict games at a decent clip.
maybe you dont get the bounces tonight but tomorrow you will and over a period of time, that should even itself out right?

Not when picking against a spread. If you asked me to make picks of every NBA games over the season, Id fair very well, but the invention of the spread pretty much makes it a guess, a roll of the die. A team can go 70-12 in a season but have an ATS of 20-62 or even worse. I dont go by ATS too much when I make picks, I check inujury reports, see how a team is playing at the time, how well theyve been doing on road and home, and I have to have a feel for the bet. I look at teams as stock and ATS is a reflection of that, whether they have been underperforming or overperforming.
