Lebron James living up to the hype?
Just made a comment about Lebron in the Oden, Durant thread so I thought that I'd start one regarding him... I really think James was a lot better player when he first came into the league... He hasn't impressed me what so ever in these playoffs and it may just be that he finally has a supporting cast to back him up... However, he hasn't shown the ability to take over a game... Everyone wants to compare LJ to MJ and Kobe, but over his first few years in the league he has not shown the killer instinct like the other two have... The Cavs should have won atleast 1 of the first 2 games in Detroit and I'm putting the blame on Lebron for them not getting it done...

Would love to hear your guys thoughts on Lebron and if you think he has lived up to his PREP BALL DAYS hype?!

Agree, when Jordan was 22, he didn't even get close to making the playoffs. I like LeBron... I guarantee he'll win more than one NBA title.

I don't understand why people are so quick to talk sh*t to the kid.

        His teammates suck.

No, but it's not his fault the hype was so high. I still think he'll answer a lot of the detractors in this series. Maybe not winning it, but at least showing that the Cavs as assembled can beat the Pistons, and that he can take over when it most matters.

Did you even watch basketball when Jordan came into the league? He made the playoffs every year of his career with the Bulls and don't give me the he didn't have the killer instinct missed almost all of the 2nd season due to injury and then plays for playoffs netting 60+ points against the Celtics and sending the game into OT yea Jordan and Lebron are equal comparing age give me a break.

I do agree they should compare Lebron to Magic though they are very similar in style of play, but even Magic in his rookie season knew how to take over a game and win it. Oh by the way he was 20 at the time and he hit game winners in the NBA finals. Magic even said he has had 3 years to learn when to dominate and take over a game and still doesn't do it. I will give Lebron the benefit of a doubt in the fact that this is a GREAT DEFENSIVE team. When he needed to against other teams so far this post season he has performed well. Jordan had a hard time with the Pistons as well they knew how to shut him down better than any team. He still averaged 25+ against them, but they made him work HARD for it and that hurt him on the defensive end. Lebron will just have to do the same and hope his players can pick up the slack on the defensive end.

Okay my bad, I should have said, when he was 22, he barely made the playoffs to lose in the first round.

Cavs role players don't ever step up. LeBron has no help whatsoever.

Lebron is really a good player, he just does not possess the game that is conducive to playing with sorry ass players. Since his teammates are aweful he really needs to drive more and take less threes. In high school his team was actually pretty good, 3-4 of them received D1 schollys. His high school team was perhaps better than Snow, Hughes, Varejo, and Damon Jones. LeBron has surpassed the hype that he was given. He is the Chosen One.

Wow his team isn't that bad they could make playoffs in the East without him compare that to say the Lakers they couldn't even make playoffs in the East without Kobe. He does possess the game that is conductive to playing with a bad team the problem is he hasn't learned that sometimes you have to be selfish and attack the basket and not settle for the jump shot. Varejo is great energy for them and a terrific rebounder. You can't say Z down low isn't a HUGE help to Lebron Z and Lebron alone easily make that team extremely talented especially compared to the east. Hughes is a streaky scorer, but good enough and Snow and Jones are good role playing veterans. They are by no means a HORRIBLE role playing bunch when I think of horrible role players I look at teams like the Lakers with Kobe and Odom and some other guys. At least he has guys that can hit an open jumper imagine if Kobe had ever had that. I can't chalk this up to age anymore he needs to work on his jumper and watch game films to increase his awareness. My only complaint is his lack of knowledge on the court and his UGLY jump shot if he can learn that he will be AWESOME and have a shot at leading the Cavs to the Finals. It would help if he had a halfway decent coach.

I know you are kidding about Z being a presence down low. Please do not let anyone who watches basketball hear you say that. How many all star games for streaky Hughes? None. Snow is the worst guard, point or shooting, in the league, and has been for awhile. Damon Jones is a liability who cannot dribble or do anything but shoot the 3 ball. And Varejo looks like a player because he has a pulse and the hair of Sideshow Bob. I stand by my assertion that his high school team had more talented players than this Cavs team.

He's no Jordan. You don't need to send the double. The Pistons are a great defensive team and there's no way an overhyped player is going to beat Detroit single-handedly.

I would love to see the new and improved Lebron in the Finals not the Lebron from the first 2 games that didn't know how to close out games. This Lebron is stepping up and making the final moments his which a superstar should do. I basically have seen a player that hadn't really hit any clutch shots in his career the two game winning layups against Washington don't count, because I could get in the lane on the Wizards and score, but these past 3 games he has hit big shots when his team has needed them and I am impressed, because he lacked in that quality that his friend Wade had so now it will be interesting to see if a repeat loss in Game 6 is in order or will he carry his team like he couldn't do earlier or last year? I think this game will be close just like all of them, but I actually still think Detroit has a decent shot against the Cavs. The 4th quarter and overtime proved if Lebron can't score and carry his team they won't win in the end he played great without question, but even the best players can't be asked to play like that every night.
