Pocky's 09-10 Basketball Picks

Starting this season with a significantly bigger bankroll. Won +36.1u last season on NBA and +13.6u fading some NCAA picks. I've been working on my system but for now I just go down the board and plug in games that I like manually. If it passes my criteria through my system, I will most likely bet a unit on it. This is strictly for NBA picks.

Most of my picks will be for 1u(1% of roll).

Blazers playing b2b road game but Portland is a young team with depth and it is a short flight from houston. I like Blazers to bring OKC back down to earth especially with the loss against the rockets. Blazers killed the Thunder in their last matchup.

(I am a big Clippers fan) I can't remember the last time Clippers won by double digit. I just don't see the Clippers being that much better than the Wolves. The Wolves does a good job at keeping games close even in road games. I might add if the spread increases later.

It just goes to show what happens to the Magic when they have a dinged up Dwight Howard with foul trouble. Detroit basketball is tough. While I didn't bet on the game, my Fantasy league team did suffer with a non productive Howard.

Picking 3 home teams tonight. I really liked Dallas +4 against Hornets but it just seems really funny so no play on that.

I like Toronto big men to dominate the Pistons; Calderon might finally have a good game. No rip, their backcourt played 40+ mins last night.

3. Rockets +2 vs LA Lakers 1.1u
Lakers haven't played well and seem to have trouble with the Rockets. No gasol, battier shuts down kobe.
On 2nd thought, dont like this pick as much as when I booked it. Artest is just too much of a wildcard. Actually thinking about the overs in this game. No one on the Lakers can stop Chris Rock, Odom is matchup hell for the Rockets and Bynum simply too big. 1 negative is that ronron should be playing exceptionally hard on D today.

Hornets coming off an embarrassing loss to the Lakers's B team. Look for David West to bounce back with a strong game by taking Camby outside. EJ is out with sore groin, that means Butler moves to the 2 and Thornton will be starting. This also means Ricky Davis might see the floor tonight and that is bad news bear Clippers fans. Thornton has been absolutely horrendous so far this season and I see no reason to improve.

Phoenix has been playing great and Grant Hill is a rebounding machine, but I like the 76ers in this spot. Last road game of a perfect road trip so far. Suns has been turning the ball over alot, but getting away with it by shooting lights out. I expect their carelessness to catch up to them tonight. Barbosa will likely play tonight but he has been ineffective when he does.

80% public on Orlando yet the lines haven't move. Charlotte has the bigs to limit Dho's impact and I think it is likely the Magic run out energy with all these players out. Jameer hadn't played well and I don't see him beating the Bobcat's D tonight. Only worried about Vince being out and Magic coming out in the 1H real strong.

OKC's 4th rank defense is primarily dependable on their schedule so far. They are actually one of the worst teams at defending the 3s so far this season. Kings play no defense at home and this should be no different. Look for Durant and/or Westbrook to explode for a huge night. Both teams are awful at rebounding, which should translate to more points too.

In hindsight, this was a terrible call. Picking Spurs on a b2b game in the 2nd half after an OT slug fest and without Parker is a major mistake even if I had won. Not sure what I was thinking, must have been stuck on the Spurs beating Jazz home court streak. I wanted the 3Q -2 line but the -115 juice made me go for -5 2H instead.
