There are many question marks for this team. Simmons' health an obvious one. Seth Curry. Can Durant keep a high level playing on that rebuilt achilles.
As with all teams, health is key to making a Finals run.
If....big if...all guys are healthy, this is a dominant lineup.
I said it last year, the problem with the team was Steve Nash. The guy had no answers, couldn't adjust. This was noticed by coaching professionals around the league. The team didn't play defense. He overworked Durant and Irving on isolations. New coach Vaughn at least has head coaching experience, has gotten fired. Steve Nash had NONE and let's all be honest here he had no idea what he was doing. Vaughn emphasized defense, and it's a head scratcher as to why Steve Nash did not.
I said after Steve Nash got fired, I would be on this team. I said that. I knew he'd get fired because he is a terrible NBA coach.I made 2 picks the last 2 years, the Bucks (+800) 2 years ago (won), and the Nets last year. The Nets last year lost because of Steve Nash. Most people will disagree with that. but he had no concept of coaching. He was a lost cause, he played small ball and it wore the team out, when he had bigs on the bench. He refused to play Blake Griffin and when he finally did the team showed promise but it was too late.
They may try to move Harris and get a big, which would matter especially if Simmons is out. They have enough shooters, if Curry can stay healthy.
There is no dominant team in the Eastern Conference that's going to run away with it, as was the case for decades in the past. You used to know who was going to make it to the Finals-the Cavs and Miami for years with LeBron the latest one.
Negative is I doubt the NBA wants to see Kyrie Irving win the NBA title. Sometimes they make calls to prevent it from happening-but this is not the David Stern era. That said, Durant is on a mission to prove he's one of the greatest NBA players of all time, and we know Irving and Simmons want to prove themselves. That said, certainly the Nets are a soft team injury-wise (Simmons being the Queen of them all). So we roll the dice-but at high odds, imo it's worth it. Because if they are motivated come playoff-time, and if they are all healthy-again huge ifs (likely someone is injured, but that's the case for other teams too)-then let's be honest...who can stop this lineup.
Price is +600 1 unit to win Eastern Conference 2 units +1250 to win title
