I had this conversation with a 'colleague' at halftime of game 1. I asked him: If you are the Bobcats, and you know Jefferson can't go longer than another quarter in the second half... do you save him for 4Q or do you run him down in 3Q and hope to build a lead (or at least not get raped until as late in the game as possible)?
He said: clearly, play him 3Q. If you fall behind too much against he Heat, the damage is done and the game is over.
I then waited for a few minutes as Charlotte hung tough and hedged my pregame +10.5 bet and managed to get some more of Miami -6.5. Jefferson exited the game soon thereafter and it was never as close as the final score indicates.
