Since CK is on NCAA...I'll be the One to Start Big Thread
Ok Guys, Just b/c CK is on NCAA, doesn't mean we can't still DO WORK. We still have all of the mafia to keep it the work. Let's do our thing as usual, discuss NBA/NCAA make our picks and win that money.

Nothing has changed, except we have a new person starting the thread.

    So...today we have...

    NJNets +2 At. OKC.

Here, I love Nets ML. OK City is a covering machine, but not as a favorite. They are only 1-3 SU as a favorite. I see no reason why OK is even a favorite. Nets haven't been playing too bad as of late. OKC has been playing well winning 4 of 7 (good for them), but in the end, if Durant doesn't have 35+ points, Nets will win.

    NCAA

There are 2 big games tonight as everyone knows. The first is Marquette at Notre Dame followed by Oklahoma at OK St.

    I'll go w/ the 2 favorites here.

    Notre Dame -3
They just lost their first home game in over 2 years. Now, tonight they play at home again. Can they lose 2 straight home games after that fantasic streak??? I don't think so. Notre Dame has had the tougher schedule to date. Harongody will dominate the paint like always and they should handle Marquette.

    OK -3.
This looks like a trap game to everybody. Almost 85% of the public is on them and the line is staying at 3. I really don't care about that. The only way OK St. wins is if they hit their 3's. OK St. can do that, but Oklahoma is too big around. They play some good defense and as long as thier putting thier hands in the faces of Ok St., they won't be hitting their jumpers. Plus, the Griffen brothers will prove to be key here down low. This will def. be a good one, but in the end, OK gets the job done.

    So, my card for tonight.
    NJNets ML
    Notre Dame -3
    OK -3

Come on boys, let's not let CK absense prove to be the key factor in out loss.

LETS DO WORK and let's get the Party Started

    NJ +2.5

NJ has been consistent the last few games, and getting 2.5 I like them more so.

    Portland 1q -3

Clips were worn out last night, looking for Portland to start strong against a tired & beat up road b2b Clip team.

    ND -3

Don't see ND losing back to back at home. After an impressive loss to UCONN(by 8), looking for them to come out strong. Marq is undefeated in conference play, but I believe playing above their heads. Nothing too strong for them from the conference yet. ND Should cover in a 7 pt win.

Staying away from OU. Was -3 last night, I waiting, -5 today, don't like it, not buying points here.

Also watching ATL/Miami game, liking ATL, but after a decent game for Miami against Orlando, not sold here.

YO SAM i think the rockets are a good play at -2

artest is back with mcgraddy.. shooting on fire New York is really sloppy and never prepared. They have beaten some really good teams, but i don't think they could get passed the rockets after they won in detroit last night

Already took ND at -3, Marq. solid club but this is make or break season game for ND. If ND goes with inside outside game and Kyle finally starts burying the 3's should win with comfort, if not nailbiter.

Okla. line does seem low, but OklaSt. has tough home court to win at, but took Texas against Sooners and they showed me how good they are.
Waiting to bet, line now at -2.5 so that's good.

          DO WORK!!!

I love the Nets play myself that was one of my favorite NBA plays today. In the NBA I have to say though my favorite play is the 76ers getting +3 against the Hornets. The injuries are really starting to hurt the Hornets not to mention with Brand being back now he will just tear up the Hornets down low. With the improved ball the 76ers have been playing lately they should be favored here. In college basketball though I have to say I disagree with your two picks. I actually have Oklahoma State and Marquette in those two games.

gordon and thorton are marked men. roy will defend well until his shooting touch returns. portland is to talented for this game to be close. the blazers need to have a good game before they faces the .500 teams.

no need to mention that they lost a close game to the clips and bobcats. oden should get at least three blocks on this game.

anybody on miami? can the supporting cast to wade sustain their good showing the last time. chalmers finally getting double digits. and their defense holding at the dying mins.

Rockets playing back to back winning yesterday at Detroit. yesterday, it seemed like a lot of people were on Detroit, but I bet Houston ML and cashed. Tonight, however, I'm staying away from this game and it's for one reason. I'M A KNICKS FAN. If I'm not betting the Knicks, I won't bet against them. So, since the spread is only +2 for them, me betting them would basically be saying Knicks to win, so i just won't bet them and just watch.

I don't even want to give any opinion on this game, b/c it probably would be a bit bias.

                Good Luck

Tough game here. Atlanta at Miami. Miami is 4 point favorite. Miami is coming off their biggest win of the season beating Orlando. but, will Miami coming off that win be a little cocky beating one of the best teams in the NBA. Was that just a fluke win??

Atlanta has been a bit inconsistent as of late. Losing last night to a poor Suns team. playing back to back games doesn't help Atlanta much, but they won't want to lose 2 games in 2 days. Miami will be fresh and ready to go.

Miami will want to continue to prove why they should be considered one of the best in the East. Beating Orlando, now if they can beat Atlanta in consecutive games, they can be in the mix as one of the better teams, so I think Miami is a good pick here, not quite sure on the 4 points though. I do believe this game could be close the whole time, so if you're betting this, maybe take the ML at -165.

So Miami ML to me is the play in this game if you're betting.

                    Blazers/Clippers
Oh my, I really feel that the Blazers will cover this game. The Clippers are shorthanded and playing the tail end of a back-to-back. I think I read someone's post about this game and I have to agree with them: after a run-and-gun game against the Warriors last night, I don't think the Clippers will be able to keep up with the Blazers for the entire game, and especially not in the second half.

                    Blazers -9.5 (bought a hook)

some interesting games in the nba tonight. you have the suns playing a back to back and on their final game of a long 6 game east coast trip - while the wizards are first game home after a 4 game west coast trip. under may be the right play here, but i'll pass and wait on playing the spurs over phx 1/29 when the suns come back home.

yesterday i had laid the wolves out as a big play for me - change of plans as minny was taken to OT last night, and won a hardfought game. they could have a slight letdown after a nice home win. m redd is also now out for the year, so i'd rather watch how the bucks react to that without my cash on their games for a while. so no play for me now in the wolves/bucks game.

the thunder have been covering machines this year, but not as a favorite (1-3 ats) while the nets have been live on the road (15-6 ats) and as dogs (18-13 ats).

                      -nets
                      _________________
the hornets have little depth, and the injuries to west and chandler (both out again tonight) are magnified even more - the sixers are playing great ball recently, and will likely be catching about 4.5 in this spot. i'll take the live dog for a possible outright win.

                      -sixers
                      _________________
the clippers come into mondays game off a btb in which they lost at the warriors - now they come back home to face a rested blazer team looking to avenge an earlier season home loss to the clips. la is still extremely thin due to major injuries, and that gets magnified in the second half tonight as the blazers dominate the paint and cruise to a 20 point win.

I booked my 3 plays on my first post.

I was thinking half time and quarter lines for some, but I think I'll just stick w/ the 3 I have right now. I may add the Knicks in a teaser w/ Nets and Blazers.

$55 to win $50 on each play and small bet on the tease

Gonna definately roll with Maimi at home -4. I think they want to keep the streak alive after upsetting the magic. All players are healthy and they are gonna want to assert their dominance against their potential playoff opponents. Horford is still out, so I give altanta's front court a slight edge in what would be a huge advantage if he is playing. But the maimi back court...#3 need I say more. The bench goes to Maimi with Cook, Quinn being equal with Evans and Murray, but Besley if he is productive will win the game for Maimi.

Any thoughts on the Pho game? Both teams stuggling, which is why the line is at -4 and Wizards are due for a win. You guys think its gonna be this game? Or will Pho light them up?

I think as long as Miami got D-Wade on the floor they will always have a chance. He's blown at least 2 games for me because I bet against them and he wills his team into the game breaking the banks of those betting against him. I don't like ATL in this one for that reason alone. However, as it was mentioned there could be a little let down and ATL runs MIA out of the gym and I'm willing to accept that if it does.

Only one play i like for tonight guys.

Njn +2 (Big) Both are below .500,I know that okc home turf but i didn't see this as an advantage for them with the nets are getting to play better lately.Giving points from a below .500 team, i'll take the points here.I with you with this one Dex,Sam .So, let's cash that money.

                                          1/27-

the bobcats are in a nice spot catching the lakers off of a big national tv win on sunday vs the spurs. they roll into staples, where they have won their last 2 visits straight up as 14 and 11 point dogs. they will again be catching about 13, and i look for larry brown to have these guys ready and take the roller coaster lakers down to the wire.

                                          -bobcats

Leans: Phoenix Suns vs Washington Wizards - Phoenix Suns 1st QTR. Suns win yesterday against Atlanta was a moral boost and got them out of a 3 match lossing run. They have been working on the phychological problems to stop choking their shots and been trying to boost moral with team meetings which seem to have worked yesterday. I think they'll go into todays game full of confidence and try to carry on where they left off last night. In addition to this when we look at their 1st QTR win ratios, Suns win on average 38% more than the Wizards, saying that Suns 1st QTR win average isn't actually that high its 56%, its just that Wizards average is so low at 28%. Also if we look at the last few 3 games Wizards one 1 1st QTR (that was against equally bad 1st QTR Kings), Suns have one 2 out of 3 including their last 1st QTR. I'll take my chances with Suns winning the QTR by -1.5.

Houston Rockets vs New York Knicks - Rockets 1st QTR: A hard match to predict, Houston won yesterday, may get back Yao and haven't lost in Madison Square garden for a long time. However, Knicks have been doing very well lately winning 3 out of last 4. Rockets on average wins 66% of their 1st QTR in contrast to Knicks 42%. I'm going with a traditional Rocket 1st QTR win.

Also I like the Portland 1st QTR, mainly because Clippers are in a bad state with all the injuries, if you look at their first 1st QTR records their both as bad as each other, I'll take Portland with the line for the game as well.

                                              Hi,
My Bets for the day are:

Atlanta +3.5 (Atlanta are 4-1 SU against Miami in last 5 games and 9-13 ATS in last 13 road games)

Minnesota +4 (Minnesota are 5-0 ATS in last 5 road games and 9-2 SU last 11 games)

LA Clippers +10.5 (Clippers are 5-2 ATS in last 7 games at home)

Good luck today with your bets.

I have been reading posts on this forum for a few months now. I have making educated guess i.e. bets on sports for sometime now. I am not a big fan of opening my first pick on this forum as a 1q line but I feel the liberty to share it will you all. Do you own homework but Portland -3 1Q is a steal. I know it seems like a lot of points but LAC very rarely ever get off to a fast start, if one at all.

Love the Knicks..(favorite team), playing Notre Dame myself, and for the 76ers, to be honest, I think I like NO in this game. I can easily be convinced the other way, but staying away from that one. I think there's better options out there rather than them. Maybe Heat ML or NJNets or even Oklahoma.

Good Luck either way you do it

100% correct there, but you're missing a key factor in Houston. The 3rd and Biggest Man of the Big 3. That's right ladies and Gents. The Houston Rockets have a BIG 3.

Artest, McGrady and Yao are the Big 3 in Houston.

W/O YAO playing tonight, Knicks will be able to score easy points down low IF THEY WANT TO. I say IF, b/c they are a HUGE 3 point shooting team. But, if they think about tonight's game and match up, they will realize that down low will be more open than usual tonight and should have a game plan to do so.

They will still chuck up 3's, but I really hope, the Knicks play the paint game, and if they do so and play that game well, Knicks win.

Time to scare you more honey....85% of the public is on OK and yet the line hasn't moved. here's why

OK St. plays very tough at home going 9-1 losing their first home game of the season to Gonzaga. Another thing is that OK St. can shoot the 3's very well. If they get hot, they can easily dominate a lot of teams.

here's why I like OK. Griffen Bro's. They are too tough down low and I expect them to dominate the paint tonight. Plus, Oklahoma is a bigger team overall than OK St. So, when they are shooting the 3's, OK has the big guys to contest the shot and stop them from shooting lights out.

If OK St. shoots lights out from 3. It's over, but I just don't see that happening. They will def. make some, but the Paint games from the Griffen will prove to be too much. Griffen in the paint vs. 3 point shooters, I'll take the Griff's.
