Finally decided to register on this site and give out my opinions and analysis on nba games

Been betting on the nba for 3 years now but just with friends etc and so far it gave me extra cash every now and then. This thread will also serve as my tracker. Glad to be part of this community!

January 1, 2013 NBA Picks

Hi all, so here are my PODs.

Mavs -4 vs Wizards

Both these teams are not even bankable this year. I believe the Mavs will have a 2-3 week to test things out (Dirk's return to lineup) on how they still are as a team. If in that window they are still losing, I see the Mavs making changes on their roster or even tanking the year to get a high pick next year.

1. I'll take Mavs still on this line because their window starts today. Every game for them will be crucial from now and will be challenged to play great.

2. Mavs received a wake-up call from Carlisle in thinking of suspending players who are not doing what they are supposed to. This might be a small or irrelevant thing to do but to a player, this will spark fire and make them play harder. They are on survival mode at the moment and IMO this month will be their last chance to redeem themselves before Cuban accepts the fact that he need to rebuild

Portland +9 vs NY

Portland will keep this a close game because of 2 reasons:

1. Amare will be likely playing tonight and that means chemistry issues will resurface. Melo and Amare still hasn't proven that they can play together because both of them like the ball in their hands. Amare will try to prove a lot tonight and thus hurting the Knicks ball rotation some more.

2. Lillard has been playing terrific against great teams. He also tends to play great against point guards who are slower, he can easily outrun,outscore Knicks point guards. Their best chance to hold him with Felton using his body against Lillard but Felton is still out for 3-4 weeks.

So I see POR covering the spread on this one.



PHI +9 vs LAL

I see Philadelphia covering this spread and keeping it close.

1. The last game these two teams played, I actually bet LAL and they in fact covered the spread. I knew that would happen because Holiday was out for that game. The Lakers are indeed playing great as of late but their weakness is the PG spot. Lakers tend to lose with teams who has a fast PG. Holiday is also the anchor of the team and they suffered as of late him being injured but I see that changing now.

2. Every team facing the Lakers always have an added advantage because they tend to bring their A-Game (just like all teams playing the champs of the previous year kind of thing)
