Hey fellas. Big day at the track today, went out for dinner afterwards and only got just got home now.

Only bet that is worrying me, and Opti has already alluded to, is DiResta/Stutil. I expected Sutil to be the one that looked rusty, but DiResta looked quite raged and uncomfortable during the sessions, and even had an off in practice 2. Still, the race could be completely different.

As regards to track side observations, only one car stood out from the rest. And that is Red Bull. Specifically Vettel. He looked visibly faster than any other driver and also looked the smoothest. The rest of the other potential contenders all showed flashes of speed at times, just like testing. Lotus, Ferrari. Mercedes all looked strong, but no where near Red Bull.

On the other end of the spectrum was McLaren. They didn't look that slow, but they didnt look that fast either. And definitely not front runners. Both drivers have fairly smooth driving styles, but you could still see them trying to force the car to do things it just didnt want to do. Speed entering an exiting the corners was also a lot less then anything Red Bull was able to produce.

At this stage, after just one day, I would say Red Bull ahead with Ferrari/Lotus/Merc slightly off the pace and McLaren coming in behind them.

Got burnt backing Webber for podium so many times last year. Took it for 2 or 3 of his 4ths

I wouldnt touch the fastest lap bet. Generous odds but really hard to predict. Especially if a Safety Car is likely.

That's probably my fault. I was spouting on about him having more fastest laps than any other driver in history and loved getting them... and I went abo0ut 1-7 betting on him for it myself.

But.... I do still b eleive all that, and there were good reasons he could not go fast at trhe end of races last year. Early season especially.

So it was one of the first bets I looked at again. But he was +800 this year and opened around +1600 last year here from memory. So odds don't excite me.

One of the Marussias could finish, but I doubt either one will. the bottom tier teams are generally terrible in F1.

Man, glad to be home. It is absolutely bucketing down now. Torrential.

Not sure why they kept delaying the qual session when the weather was only going to get worse. Conditions were tricky, and there were a lot of offs in Q1, but it didn't seem dangerous.

The track side commentary just kept saying we are in a delay for restart, and I believed it. But when you could see the drivers getting out of their balaclava's, etc, it seemed pretty clear nothing was going to happen today! That is when we gave up and got out of there!

Tomorrow should make up for it. Although I hear it will be mighty chilly. Not that that matters. (well apart from for tyre issues)

I'm kinda sorta disappointed that we won't have the jumbled grid order now.

We just got a luck break, after Pic got a bad start to the race.

Van Der Garde just had to pit for a slow leaking puncture and stuffed up his strategy.

Had a nice win, but still disappointed with myself. I was seriously thinking about risking 20 units on Kimi top 6, but as usual wimped out and only bet 3. Also, to miss him putting in the fast lap burns a little. he got it by putting in a blistering lap when he didn't need to just to get it, which is why he is a better bet for fastest than most, as he will usually go for it if its within reach at the end.

Bet too much on Ricciardo/DiResta too.

Turned what should have been a brilliant day into an ok win.

Hi Matt. Having a bet tonight?



I think it will be between Vettel and Alonso and Webber for the podium spots.

I expect Red bull to 3 stop and take new hards each time. And Alonso to 4 stop probably taking softs 1 or 2 of those stints.

Alonso is going to need to be 25 seconds faster than Vettel over the race to make up for the extra stop. Should be an interesting battle of both strategy and driving if it turns out that way.

I think Lotus won't be fast enough on the hard tyre as well as having to 4 stop.

Mercedes just not 100% sure about, but the bookies don't like their chances.
