is manly that much of a fav over cowboys? ml is -550. total 38.5. curious for any insights. thanks in advance and will throw points your way. im bored and cant sleep and looking for a fav to put a tiny bit of action on, but these teams seem so evenly matched cant figure out why manly is favored by 14.5.

It's useless now as the game is finished but anyway... State of Origin is on this week so that means players selected for Origin don't play for their club. Cowboys lose Thurston and Scott who clearly have a massive impact on the cowboys game. Manly also had players out for Origin but it's not on the same level.
It's the same reason the Dragons/Titans line was so close, which titans ended up winning anyway.
Broncos/Raiders and Storm/Roosters lines would both be very different if they had proper lineups. Warriors only lose one player while the Tigers lose none, that game is "normal"
Then next round you will see some players backing up for their club games which are in some cases 2 days after Origin, other players will be rested (not many).
It makes it tricky betting on teams during this period.Comment -

Big night tonight, State of Origin game 2.
Have looked at this game from a number of angles. What it comes down to for me is that QLD have the more talented side, have a great record at ANZ stadium (have won the last 4, 5 of last 6), have more experience and will likely play better in the wet (I'd rather have size+experience than speed+inexperience in wet conditions).
That leads to only one play:

Money must be coming in on the Blues, line just dropped to QLD -2 @ $1.88 on Pinnacle (still being juiced heavily), but ML has hardly moved. That's a significant half point drop though. I think you will be getting QLD -2 at better than $1.91 odds before kick-off. To be honest I don't think it will matter but always nice to have that extra buffer.Comment -
