FREE DROP BILLY – had a solid 2yo campaign with good figures before catching a dead rail (“X”) in the Breeders’ Cup, then showed gradual development this year. He earned a good figure when wide in the Blue Grass, and had a good pattern going into the Derby, but threw a stinker in the slop. With five weeks rest since then, nine since his top, and only 4 points of development, this is one that definitely could run a new top. Since he’s already fast enough to be relevant, that could get him a piece of this at an enormous price.

i looked through R6 last night and was having a hard time finding things I liked.. sometimes with these types of races even though they're high quality fields not a lot of separation amongst the contenders for me.. going to look again and try to pick at least 2 (of the ones I looked at) and then get into R7 and beyond

Free Drop Billy has accomplished a lot of his career, most notably defeating Bravazo by four lengths in the Breeders' Futurity (gr.I) last fall, but the son of Union Rags has gone 0-for-5 since then and mightultimately prove to be at his best as a miler. He's shown hints of possiblestamina limitations this year and couldn't keep up with the fast pace despite aground-saving trip in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), retreating to finish adistant sixteenth after attempting to stay within a half-dozen lengths or so ofthe early lead. He's trained up a storm since then at Churchill Downs and seemsto be maintaining his form overall, so perhaps he just didn't care for thesloppy track in the Derby, but even drawing a line through his Derby effort, Ithink running 1 ½ miles against this level of competition could be a tough taskfor Free Drop Billy.

                    , FREE DROP BILLY (30-
1): His Kentucky Derby was over early, as he backed out of contention around the far turn despite getting a relatively good trip up until that point. He just hasn’t progressed since early in the season and it would be quite a surprise if he were to even work his way into the trifecta against a field of this quality.
                    Pass.

ok that's positive.. didn't know about the dead rail breeders cup and he's OK with the non effort because of the slop.. good to hear other stuff too

on the latter if the pace figures are accurate what he did is really incredible two back.. he got a reasonable pace in his last and cruised on the front with an even faster figure.. can't speak on the regression but doesn't appear the last should have taken much out of him and question if asmussen
would try him here if he weren't in really good shape.. worked 1:11 flat breezing at churchill on 5/28 which is really moving
