I f*king hate shootouts, stupidest thing Bettman/owners pushed through since he took office (and that's saying something). Win or lose, doesn't matter. Horrible way to decide a game played by professionals.

Looking forward, I'm also on Kings over 2.5 and Kings in regulation. Let the self-jinx begin.

if american sports fans weren't silly enough to love football but never watch hockey, league wouldn't have to take measures to try to make game more exciting and 'fan/tv friendly.'

i agree that hockey should be decided 5-on-5. thats way done in playoffs and way it should be. hockey is a 5-on-5 game. but, blame all the fools that never watch hockey on TV. if people watched it, and tv contracts were as profitable as other programming, league wouldn't need to try adding shootouts for entertainment purposes. blame all your friends for not watching hockey on tv.

I think overtime should be 4 on 4 (regular season), opens the ice up hopefully keeping games from lasting forever. I disagree that it's because of "americans not watching on tv"; soccer games (tournaments) have shootouts, and it's watched worldwide. That may have been part of the decision makers original reasoning, but they've shown they're entirely capable of coming up with stupid f*kng ideas before. Instigator rule anyone? They'll tell you it's to protect the players from injury, etc, yet they don't mind cramming 48 games into 3 months.
