I wonder if teams are placing less importance on goalies specifically, and perhaps more on defensemen. Maybe they just see a lack of any super-human goalies out there.

Shesterkin might be the exception, but wouldn't be surprised to see some decline from him in the coming season.

Vasilevskiy kinda looked tired in the Cup Final series.
Yes, it seems that consistent defensemen have become more of a coveted commodity than ever before.

Might be the Sault Ste Marie Greyhound lineage that tipped the scale on this iffy move. For better or for worse, Dubas seems inclined to shaping things around Soo connections.

Crazy day in free agency today.

    Johnny Hockey to Columbus.

Detroit did the best IMO. Charot, Perron and Copp. Trading for Husso a couple days ago

    Oilers getting Campbell in goal

Are the Leafs better in net now?

Wild trade Cam Talbot to Senators in exchange for Filip Gustavsson

The Minnesota Wild traded goaltender Cam Talbot to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for goalie Filip Gustavsson on Tuesday. Minnesota is not retaining any of Talbot's salary.
"I’m excited about the move," Talbot said. "They already had a good young core and they made some good moves at the draft and have the space to still make a splash the next couple days. Looking forward to joining the group and helping to lead them back to the playoffs."
Talbot, 35, is going to the sixth team in his NHL career. Last season, he posted a 32-12-4 record with a 2.77 goals against average and .911 save percentage.
Gustavsson, 24, joins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in Minnesota. He recorded a 5-12-1 record with a 3.55 GAA and .892 SV% last season. Minnesota has $4.279 million in additional cap space, which can potentially be used to sign prospects Marco Rossi, Calen Addison and Adam Beckman or other free agents.
This is the second trade involving a goaltender in consecutive days for the Senators. On Monday, Ottawa traded goalie Matt Murray to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Wild (53-22-7) finished second in the Central Division before losing to the St. Louis Blues in the playoffs. The Senators (33-42-7) placed seventh in the Atlantic Division, missing the playoffs.

It looks as though they created a new position President of Hockey Operations so that Sakic could step up there, and allow MacFarland to be their GM - he was being sought by other teams and the Avs didn't want to lose him.

It's like they traded DeBrincat for Korchinski, an elite defenseman draft pick, strong in transition and scoring.

DeBrincat just came off of a career best 78 point regular season, noting his +/- on the year was a career worst -13.

DeBrincat traded to Senators by Blackhawks for No. 7 pick in 2022 Draft

Chicago also receives second-round selection in 2022, third-round choice in 2024 for MONTREAL -- Alex DeBrincat checks all the boxes the Ottawa Senators were looking for in a player and they determined the price to acquire the 24-year-old forward from the Chicago Blackhawks was worth paying.

DeBrincat was traded by the Blackhawks to the Senators on Thursday in advance of the 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft at Bell Centre for three draft picks -- Ottawa's first- and second-round picks in the 2022 draft (Nos. 7 and 39) and a third-round pick in the 2024 draft.
"The immediate reaction was just shock," DeBrincat said Friday. "I saw some rumors and stuff but until it actually happens, it doesn't really hit you. So, I was definitely shocked. But now I'm really excited to join this group. Obviously, a young core that's ready to compete, to play in the playoffs, hopefully a good team and win some games this year turn in the right direction. I'm happy to be a part of that."
DeBrincat had 78 points in 82 games this season, leading Chicago with 41 goals to tie his NHL career high set in 2018-19.
"The ability to add someone who is a consistent goal-scorer, someone whose age fits in with a lot of our core, someone that is a competitor, someone who has a proven track record," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said 45 minutes before the draft began. "We've said since the end of the year that we were looking for someone who could play in our top 6 and he's playing in our top 6."

Their early round 2 pick No. 38 was for Fraser Minten, C, Kamloops (WHL.)

Forsberg closer to contract with Predators, GM says

Hope to sign forward by July 13; agreement would include no-movement, no-trade clause

ONTREAL -- Filip Forsberg is closer to re-signing with the Nashville Predators than when they offered him an eight-year contract earlier in the offseason, general manager David Poile said Wednesday.

Poile revealed June 23 that the Predators had offered the forward an eight-year contract. Forsberg can become an unrestricted free agent July 13.
"We're talking every day," Poile said after the NHL general managers met in advance of the 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft at Bell Centre on Thursday and Friday. "We've got a deadline coming up here [July 13] so obviously it's hugely important to us and I'm sure it's important to them. Both sides are from the beginning saying the right things that we'd like to get this done. Hopefully we just keep moving toward that."
Poile said Forsberg's contract will include both a no-movement clause and a no-trade clause if he re-signs with the Predators.
"We don't love doing that, but Forsberg has made that as part of the negotiations and that will be part of his contract," Poile said.
The holdup, Poile said, is about money, because Nashville is the only team that can offer Forsberg an eight-year contract; any other team that signs him July 13 or after can offer him a maximum of seven years, per the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Just seeing the name Foxbet makes me cringe.... No other reason than their policy of providing an insane amount of KYC documentation, after initial deposit of $500 was made, but BEFORE the first bet could be placed. I did this all online, don't know if they had a retail book location somewhere or not.

I was so mad. Had I known they would do that, would have never deposited there.

Provided all the docs to them and once cleared, went all-in on the deposited amount, and won the bet. Then cashed out.

Only good thing I will say they paid out extremely quickly.
