Blue Jackets quietly rebuilding. Missed playoffs for a couple of years. Could make noise this season.

Metropolitan is a tough division. 👍

Terry Sawchuk gets voted best Leafs goalie all time in a good number of fan polls. Johnny Bower is usually up there too. I think both were on the 1967 team that last won the Cup for Toronto, and if memory serves they shared the Vezina that year. Also had Jacques Plante for a while, who I believe crafted and wore the first goalie mask. Mike Palmateer had a decent run. They also had Cujo for a bit.

When the Cup does its victory tour during the summer, it doesn't have the recent team's players' names on on it yet. This year, for the first time, it was engraved with the team name and year before the tour, but the players' names don't get added until October.

Leafs 4th round goalie pick Dennis Hildeby is 6'5".

When on his knees his shoulders reach the cross bar.

Camp reports on his atheticism and play are exciting and promising.

    BTW, Ken Dryden: 6'4".

There's a story that Rick Vaive refused a young Shanahan Leafs fan an autograph. Once in the NHL years later, Shanahan went after Vaive who found out after the pummelling that it was over the jilted autograph request.

"On road trips, Scott Bowman would leave a stick with the hotel front desk at curfew time, asking the clerk to get players to sign it. It was his simple way of deciphering which players were coming in late.
If anybody asked me for an autograph late at night, I always signed 'Darren McCarty"

I can't find any elaboration of the condition(s) on that Calgary 2025 first round pick from Florida, anybody know?

It's a pretty good deal for both teams. I am a huge Tkachuk fan. Tkachuk was leaving no matter what and he's an elite player. Calgary got an elite player in return. A top 10 in the league player. American going to play in the US and 2 Canadians going up to Canada.

Both teams had a disappointing playoffs and both players were basically absent during the post season, so something needed to done.

Both Huberdeau and Weegar have one year left on their contacts. I assume the conditional pick will if Calgary will be able to sign Huberdeau. If they do sign him, then its a pretty even trade with Calgary maybe even winning it. Weegar could be the wildcard if he over exceeds in Calgary.
